This place discriminates against disabled people with service dogs. First time visiting this public establishment and I was told I'm not welcome because of my service dog. The ADA prohibits public establishments to turn away a person with a service animal.
Awesome local bar. Great staff, good looking bartenders (females). All around Great spot to meet friends and hang out

I attempted to go to Petes last night with my sister. The door attendant would not let me in because he believed I was too drunk. I have not consumed alcohol in weeks. HOWEVER, I have Multiple sclerosis. This causes my speech to become slurred and impaired. I explained this to the door attendant and I even went to my car to retrieve my handicap placard so I could show him some proof, but his response was that it was not his problem.
Hey Pete's Place,
I am sorry that you are not comfortable with my neurological disability. However, the way you're staff handled this entire situation was unprofessional, unethical, and just plain cruel and mean.
I promise I will never come back to your establishment, and you should all be ashamed of yourselves for treating Disabled people in this manner.

Petes has been my "dive bar" of choice since I moved to this area. The staff is friendly and vigilant. Prices are reasonable. I've always felt safe here.

Typical dive bar. Decent prices and the employees are friendly. Some of the customers need to be cut off sooner because they get really obnoxious.
Pool tables, good music (jukebox).

Stopped in while walking Downtown La Mesa. Really chill vibe and love all the Jazzfest posters! One of the best Bloody Mary’s we’ve ever had.

Main bald bartended, rude, arrogant. Ask a simple question and he berates you and laughs in front of everyone. One of the most unprofessional people I’ve ever interacted working behind a bar. Wouldn’t go simply because of that one person.

It's a bar. I went for a birthday celebration. It's small inside and a smoking area in back. I didn't see anyone eating food, although there are any options around this place.

Haven't been here for years before it was remodeled. The place was full with people with two pool tables and an outside smoking courtyard.
Parking: Parking meter before 6pm and free after that. Plenty of street or parking lot.
