Went on a Sat around 11am for birthday brunch based on reviews. It was super crowded with a relatively long line. It was very noisy. The seating and tables are pretty uncomfortable, inside and outside. Had the breakfast sandwich and my friend had the drenched toast. To be honest, the portions were small and the food was fine. Definitely overpriced for what you get.
Basically, I felt it was overrated....
No plans to go back.

I’ve been to maybe too many cafes in San Diego, this is my favorite vibe by far. I go out of my way to come to Public Square. Thank y’all!

Yummy sandwiches and perfect scones! Also has a cute wine selection and great seating. Got the signature breakfast sandwich which was really good, avocado was a bit brown and they forgot my chili oil (that I paid extra for) so that knocked some points down. Suggested to me by TikTok, pretty good for a TikTok rec!

Had a great time visiting Public Square. We ordered the scone plate with an assortment of flavored butters (the Guava is a must-try). What a treat! Highly recommend!

We were told Open Mics were on Wednesdays, and the day we tried showing up, we called multiple times, but they didn’t answer the phone…we drove 30 minutes and they said the open mics were changed to Sundays. Wished they were more responsive to phone lines.

Great coffee. Not the quietest place in my experience, so great atmosphere if you’re looking for an energetic vibe and happy people.

We come here for Pierre's Pizza because it's worth the 20 minute drive. We love trying the Weekly Special when we come because they always know how to make the perfect pairings.

We have been coming to Public Square since we moved to the La Mesa in 2021. The food and drinks are stellar, staff is friendly, and great atmosphere whether dining indoors or patio. Scones, egg sandwiches, and all the caffeinated drinks are our go to choices. Highly recommend.

Cool spot located in the heart of La Mesa. Catch some live music and enjoy the car cruise on Thursdays during the summer.

Drove all the way to the Location several times and they were out of items. Also they have no phone service, so verifying ahead is impossible. The app and website are also ineffectual in disregard. Way too complicated for a cup of Matcha!

Best coffee shop in La Mesa, the food, the people and the vibe! This is a place to come with your friends and mingle, I find it a little to loud to do work, hence the name public square. My favorite foods their are their Avocado Toast and their Coffee Carnitas Sandwich. Coffee in the morning and beer in the evening it’s the perfect spot to gather in the heart of La Mesa.
