I had been wanting to try this place for a long time and I have to say I was shocked at the blatant price gouging. Cute(but loud) interior, nice server, but to have ordered a $50 filet mignon that was served totally plain on a plate with a piece of darkened garlic toast sent me into the blackest pit of despair about dining out. The steak was well done and charred on the outside, rather than medium as requested. I would have coped, but there was just nothing to make up for it. As far as I'm concerned, if you're going to charge $50 for a steak, you have one job. Why are sides not included?? And why are they so expensive?? The experience just felt abusive, really.

Can't help but love the authentic retro decor especially in the lounge room where the live entertainment is. Menu is beef heavy which is fine with me since I can't imagine not having steak and bourbon based drinks in a venue like this. Only tiny critique is the mashed potatoes where pretty heavy on the salt and I'm a salt fiend. Also a bit heavy on the butter/cream content. I know its trendy to serve quite thin watery mashed potatoes and mine appeared to have been subjected to a food processor but that develops the gluten content and results in a rather gluey consistency. I prefer "stiffer" more traditional mashed potatoes myself. Steaks were cooked to perfection, good quality cuts and terrific charred crust (we opted not to grill ourselves). Pro tip (from me) I always ask for some of their Teriyaki sauce on the side for dipping what ever they use is right on the money. Service was tip top being very attentive, no looking around trying to get noticed when the next drink was desired. Bar tender obviously took pride in his work. We sat in the restaurant area near the entrance to the lounge, that particular spot was in the line of fire for the band and a bit loud for easy conversation but that is a non-issue in other areas as I've been there several times before. All in all an excellent experience close to home but more than good enough to justify a trip from further away.

Live in the area and never stopped by until now! I should have not waited so long. We will be coming here more often when we want a great steak with a pleasant vibe!

This is my and my spouse's favorite local spot. We love having a date night here or just popping in for a drink. The food has never been anything but excellent and the drinks are fabulous too. It is a little higher price than you'd expect for up-scale casual dining but it's worth it, IMHO. It's also great that they change their menu up a bit every few months, so going there often never gets boring. HIGHLY recommend this place for a great dinner and fun atmosphere (although it gets a bit loud on the weekends).

The food is very good here and also abundant. The prices are decent and the wait staff is outstanding. A great place for a very good steak, sides and desert. I shall be returning. A nice experience.

This is a gem in La Mesa! We are so excited to have found it. Food is great. Service is great. It has a cool ambiance. We tried the burger and chicken sandwich and a bunch of the happy hour appetizers and cocktails. Everything was really good. We will definitely be coming back, often.

Great local place. Went on a busy night, however everyone was professional and friendly. Interesting concept to have the choice to cook your own steak. Half our group opted out and had kitchen cook;other half cooked their own. Overall a fun group experience. Timing is not the same as entire group making the same choice. So cooked steaks came out while cook your own, on a different cycle. Quality was good enough for us but not same as a high end steak house. Sides are really good. And unique. Caesar salad is amazing. Highly recommend. We will be back for sure.

This is by far my favorite restaurant in San Diego. I've been going here for almost 15 years and it's always been on point and consistent.

The decor is dated. Deviled eggs nothing to write home about. You have the option to cook your own steak. I did not since I feel if im paying those prices for a steak im not cooking it too. Steaks were ok, not alot of flavor. I actually prefer Texas roadhouse steaks to this establishment. I decided to go here to eat out of curiosity passing by it for a year. Its not terrible but not a woo hoo place Either.

Got the Caesar salad, hanger steaks, giant sirloin, and baked potato. Everything was perfect. I think I'll be dreaming about that Caesar for a while. Total redemption for this place.

Took my girl here for our 2nd date night of 2025. Everything was amazing. Looking forward to coming back for more date nights!
