Toasted Gastrobrunch - La Mesa

I gave it 4 stars for the atmosphere and the potential for a more impressive meal. I had the chilaqueles, they were a 3. An interesting presentation, eggs and sauce were good and the rest lacking.
I would eat here again but not have same dish.

Today my partner and I decided to try Toasted in La Mesa for the first time. We had seen the new sign on Fletcher and had been wanting to try it for a while now. We ordered the kanafeh french toast and a few other entree's. Our server Ivana was great and brought out our items quickly. While we were sharing our meal, I took a bite of the kanafeh and as soon as I began chewing I bit down on something hard in my mouth. When I pulled it out of my mouth, I realized it was a black rock the size of a dime. I had everyone at our table inspect it to make sure it wasn't anything else and we all agreed it was a black rock. We called over a server and he immediately took the dish and rock back to the kitchen (huge mistake because we should've kept the rock for proof). Alfred the manager came to our table to write a report and as soon as the other members in my party starting asking questions he told them he wouldn't speak with them because the incident was between me and him. He tried to say it was a hardened piece of pistachio but we even tried to cut it open and there was no way this item was anything other than a rock. My friends tried asking him more questions and asked for the rock back and he refused stating that it was already thrown away and they cannot give it back. When we asked for the statement he wouldn't let me have a copy because there was "propriety information" on it. Alfred was very rude and unprofessional to my friends and family considering the fact that I literally had a rock in my food and have possibly chipped my tooth or choked on it. He did however provide the number to corporate so I will definitely be contacting corporate in regards to the situation and how it was handled. If I were you, I would stay away from this place. How is it even possible to have a rock in my food to begin with? I'm so disgusted with our whole experience.

My friends and I went here for a last minute brunch. We did not need a reservation, did not have to wait, and was able to get a table for 8 right away. The service was amazing. Our waiter took our food and drink orders right away and constantly checked on us. She always made sure our glasses were full for the bottomless mimosas. The food was absolutely amazing and super filling. The value we received for our money was excellent. I could not believe the amount of food I received for the price. I cannot recommend this place enough if you're looking for a great brunch.

Delicious brunch and vibe, will definitely go back! The decor is nice, there is a lot of seating and it does get busy quick on weekends. A hidden gem!

Beautiful location first of all! Super nice inside. We had the French toast and it's exactly how I always want French toast to taste. So many places coat it in egg and it's gross. This place was perfect!

Parking: Plenty of parking. May just have to walk a little if it's really busy. All free though

Absolutely great service and food. We had the coffee cake pancakes and French toast and that French Toast tasted exactly like French toast should taste. That great balance of not too eggy and toasted bread without a doubt coming back here and bringing more friends and family!

The atmosphere was nice and clean. Cute furniture and lots of plants to creat a nice tropical vibe. Food was not great. I had the chicken and pancakes, which were quite dry with only a hot honey to add moisture.
