Went there for the live music & a drink, so I can't speak to their food or service. It's an order & pay at the counter situation. The food coming out looked tasty. It's a great small community place to hang out. Saw some of our neighbors & heard great jazz music that they apparently have every Wed. night. Highly recommend!
Nice little place. I went to watch a friend play at open mic night. The beer and especially the wine prices are very good and so are the choices.
Important part of the La Mesa community
Shout out to Frank at Spacebar for my birthday brunch, we had the best of wine, food and music, awesome vibe too!
Came by here around 8 months ago while heavily pregnant and doing laundry next door with my toddler. Nothing else is close enough to waddle to with a toddler so I chose to stop here and see if there were any snacks or bakery items I could purchase for my son while we awaited our laundry. The man in front was absolutely rude. He didn’t treat me as a customer or with kindness in any way shape or form. I’ve heard nothing but great things but it’s been months and I still refuse to step foot back in this establishment regardless of how close and convenient they are because of how they made me feel during such a vulnerable time. Not sure what the cause was as I didn’t bring my child inside it was just me I was very kind and asked about their lemon cake and chocolate muffin the AA man in front instructed the worker not to take my order because he would as if he didn’t want me to disturb her.
I love the people at Spacebar. Come every Saturday night for the Fire Brothers. Also, the food service is improving from 3 🌟-4 🌟 .
Second Sunday Open Mic poetry is welcoming and inspirational.
Great food (smoked salmon pizza), great jazz, super friendly
Always an awesome experience @SpaceBar in La Mesa. Been going for years and will continue. Friendly services, tasty foods, and lively culture.
Food: Great, recommend their panini and coffee.
Service: Good service however sometimes they are not at the desk so there might be times a customer enters and someone isn’t there.
Room for Improvement:
- Definitely should invest in an AIR CONDITIONER for the place to encourage the customers to stay and enjoy the cafe atmosphere.
- Should also invest in better seats. The individual ones are uncomfortable for the customers back and the one “couch”connected to the wall needs better padding.

So glad I randomly found this place. Cool vibe, had some great conversation with the regulars, and ate an absolutely delicious dragonfruit bowl with a frozen kale/mint/pineapple smoothie that was refreshing, perfectly balanced, and just felt healthy the moment you tasted it. Great selections for everything else you can order, too. Left in a happy mood, and definitely had a better day thanks to this cafe visit. See you again soon, Spacebar!

Frank and Patricia’s Spacebar offer delicious healthy food at a fare price. Tonight I ordered the brown rice, quinoa, and veggie masala bowl with grilled chicken. It was perfect and went well with the open mic music vibe.
