I ordered a flat white like an hour ago.
In my opinion what makes this spot good is the type of coffee you get. Im no coffee expert but the taste you get is what I call "classic". That straight up coffee taste you know and love. Everywhere else I go tend to favor the more funky natural process coffees. I love a good funky espresso. But to find this flavor profile in a coffee shop around here, or in LA in general is pretty uncommon.

Cute place, descent options and deserts. But the service is not good. Ordered iced late with coconut milk and I asked for light ice. I paid extra for then coconut milk and extra for additional shot of espresso. When they give my drink the cup is only half full with light ice, I asked to fill the cut with milk and he said it’s an extra charge. I don’t mind paying and I did pay another 75c for the milk even tho I already paid extra 50 c. All this can be stated when I paying the first time even tho I don’t think it makes sense. If I don’t want cup full of ice then it doesn’t mean I want half cup of coffee with 3 drops of milk. I want the same cup of coffee with less ice Most coffee shops get it but some that don’t get it try to charge you and warn you when you pay and some like this one just give you half empty cup when they charge 10$ for it It’s a shame.

From the first visit, Civitas has been our favorite ever since! Whenever we are out of town and try another coffee shop we always compare that coffee shop to Civitas. "Is it as good as Civitas?" The answer is very rarely a "yes". Our regular order is an unsweetened iced oat milk latte! And I would like to say that it doesn't give us "that first sip feeling", it gives us "that every sip feeling"! Wonderful baristas, delicious coffee, and reasonable prices! :)

My husband and I make sure to visit this sweet coffee shop every day when we come to visit the area. Coffee, pastries and open faced sandwiches are delicious. We love the atmosphere and community that the baristas cultivate which makes it feel like our home away from home.

Everything is great here but I want to especially shoutout the matcha?If you’re a fan of authentic matcha flavor, the matcha-cano and matcha latte are so so good. Not sweet (unless you want it to be) and perfectly balanced.They ALSO take pick up orders thru Snackpass with a free every 10th order. It’s such a great spot to grab a drink on the go or to do some work in inside. I always come here when other coffee shops (like coffee code) get too crowded.
