First time at North Woods. I liked the ambiance-- rustic and comfortable. Sawdust on the floor, and peanuts on the table, this was relaxing. I had the BBQ Brisket Sandwich, and I think it was one of the best I have had. The brisket was tender, and the brioche bun was soft inside while toasted on the edges. They put just enough barbecue sauce that you taste it in every bite, but it wasn't doused in it. The onion ring "straws" were the perfect crunchy addition. Unfortunately, it was paired with bland rice pilaf. I'm not a fan of Bleu cheese dressing, so I didn't try the salad, but the cabbage slaw was peppery and delicious. The cheese bread also was a nice addition, hot and tasty. I'm interested in going back to try other dishes.

Few things can be said about Clearman's that are not a positive review. They are staple in southern California, and have some of the most amazing dinners that money can buy. I've been going there since I was a tot in the 1970s, and it truly has been a long part of my life.You will never go hungry, you will always take leftovers home (they encourage it), and their servers are just magic. Sure there will be a wait on holidays and weekends, but plan for it and go when you can.It is expensive for the average person, but you're getting quality food...it is SO worth it.

Been a long time customer at San Gabriel and Covina locations, and a yearly guest of my boss at La Mirada, after the annual Western Pool and Spa Show in Long Beach. Food is always first rate, consistently delicious and plentiful. Service is good. This last visit, the excellent waitress was running ragged with three large parties including ours. She did the best she could but the service was slow out of necessity. Probably just a fluke. Bleu cheese and red cabbage salad is legendary, along with the heavenly cheese bread. Steaks and chops are mighty good, as is the mammoth baked with cheese butter. A real Southern California institution.
We went at 9pm on a Saturday, so there was very little wait. Sat in the bar area. Steak was cooked perfectly. As always the salad and cheese bread were great. Our waitress has been there 15+ years and was very hard to track down for things. Other than that, great dinner!

It was so DELICIOUS and our server Pen was really nice and very informative and beautiful and kind!! The Salad and cabbage and bread oh my goodness !! I truly think I was in heaven!!! I wanted to drink another beer! But I live so far away and to drive is scary!! But everything was great and the other guests were also nice!! Come on in!! It's so good!

The rice was dry, no flavor. Steak was pretty good. A bit undercooked for me, but overall. A decent experience. Garlic bread is good. Salad was okay, nothing much to talk about it. Basic thousand island. I just feel like the food and decor is stuck in the 1990’s. I do like the darkness of the dining hall. It does give a cozy, steakhouse vibe, but I think they should renovate the interior. Not a huge fan of peanut shells on the floor. My baked potato was decent. I usually like mine with a lot of butter, so I’m happy with my baked potato. I think there are a few steakhouses that are a bit cheaper, and better than this spot. Friendly service. My waiter was checking multiple tables. I spent like $70 on my meal. I don’t think it was worth it

Nostalgia at play here. This place hasn't changed since I was a child. Dark and moody with an entreaty to throw your peanut shells on the floor, the atmosphere is almost as good as the food (appropriately dated music would have been chef's kiss). Ribeye steak cooked to perfect temperature and very flavorful. Baked potato slightly overdone on the outside. But the cabbage salad and cheese bread was, as always, the stars of the show as far as my family is concerned; we always take some home. Our server kept the water flowing and was very attentive.
