We used to come here a lot before covid when the prices were reasonable. Now, the prices are all skyrocketing with the AYCE so we don't come as often. We would come here with friends, family, and date night. The service is good, you press the button or raise your hand if you want anything. There's a posted time limit, but in all the years that we've been here we have never been kicked out. The food is good, they give you options on which menu you would like to order from. Everyone in your party has the same choice. That salad they give you is tops, we always ask for refills on that. At the end, you get ice cream! they have a couple or so choices to choose from. I like my sherbert (although at times the ice cream freezer was nowhere to be seen, so maybe it just depends if they have ice cream in stock).

This place is temporarily closed until further notice as of June 13, 2023. Other than that, my family comes here often and have always had a great experience.

The food was good, it's good for a cheap ayce kbbq. The service was alright my only complaint was that it was my first time since the remodel and I wasn't sure how it worked. I had to keep asking the waiter for assistanceThe new loook is pretty good, I do miss the old one made me feel more home vibes.

I used to come to Hwang So Go Jip religiously for the past 2 years with my family and friends. Our go to was always the marinated brisket with side salad and a few sides of rice for everyone. My mom and I loved this place so much that we were willing to overlook the fact that we've got tiny mosquitos in our salads numerous times. However since they underwent remodeling and new ownership I wouldn't give this place the time of my day again. My last visit which was the same weekend of the re-opening we were extremely disappointed. The interior was completely different and not at all to my liking. It didn't have the warm and cozy feel of a mom and pop restaurant, it became modernized with even an added salad bar where you have to go grab your own rice, utensils and sauces, not a fan.The service went downhill completely. The older lady Cindy who previously worked for the last owners was still there and while she has great speedy service the other new ladies were completely careless. At first I thought it might've even been a racial thing as we were the only hispanics and I noticed we weren't getting any attention to the point I had to get up a few times to ask for my beverages and refills on meat but after reading similar reviews I see that they just have bad service in general. We only had 3 rounds of meat for a party of four (which by the way they became even stingier with the meat portions serving them in smaller plates) when we became frustrated and had to pin them down for the check. If you go to Korean BBQs solely for the experience then I guess you wouldn't mind this place but for people like me who dine at places with at least decent customer service and quality food, I wouldn't recommend.

Came here since Gangnam Station was having a 2+ hours wait. We waited there for almost 1.5 hours and gave up.These food quality was ok here. But no where on the menu did it wrote that the first 4 items, you could only order ONCE. What is a AYCE if certain items, esp. the steak and ribs are only to be ordered ONCE?!?It also took a while to wave the servers to your table. You can also only order 3 items per time. Which is reasonable, but write that down on the menu too.Ambiance was just ok: could be nicer. Next time we will definitely check out Gangnam Station earlier. When my son went to the bathroom, he said the restaurant looked very nice and modern.Hwang So Go Jip is more like a small mom and pop shop. Service can be much better: if so I will give a 4 stars.

First the pros. One of the cheapest Korean bbq places out there. The brisket and beef belly tasted amazing. It's a self service salad bar. The servers were attentive 90 percent of the time. I don't think there is an eat hours limit. Now the cons, I never heard of limited items for a Korean bbq places. It kinda make sense for a cheap Korean bbq place but still. To some ppl may be turned off that sodas are canned but that doesn't bother me. The potato salad tasted very off. It's oddly sour and it has raisins. I'm not a mad of it. No kimchi. The sauce, you get it yourself but it's in those little togo containers you get from places like taco food court corners on the street. My friends and I went for the menu C the most expensive one. It is not worth it. There is no tofu soup at all. The egg "custard" their version of steamed egg is undercooked. The only ventilation you get are the doors being opened, which surprised me that is well ventilated without the ventilation fans. It's not a typical Korean bbq but felt very outdoorsy without being outdoorsy. The music wasn't loud so talking to friends was easy. Honestly if you were to eat here, stick to menu B. You get your money worth it. Overall it was an okay experience. Considering kbbq and ayce sushi is so expensive due to inflation. Menu B is not bad price for what it is. They have a happy hour 11 to 4 only on m to the for 19.99 if you just want brisket or beef belly.

The meats were yummy and the staff was attentive. They changed our grill plates often which was great! All the banchan is self-serve and they have so many options (salad, noodles, and soup included!). A great affordable AYCE option for college students!

Overall very nice little spot. The meat was fresh and very delicious. The place is very tidy and clean. The employees were constantly cleaning, organizing and tending to the customers. The rice was a little strange and wasn't fluffy. The salad and dressing was delicious. The sides were decent and typical of what you see at other places but they had beans, tortillas, corn, and soup( all part of the salad bar). The grills were leveled with the table which caused a lot of oil splatter to go everywhere. But the coolest part was the switch for the fire was on the table which made it easy for us to control the flame. When you want to eat ramen, they remove the plate where you cook meat to put a small pot to cook the ramen in. Super interesting and does has its perks.

This place was really good. Love the food and prices. Service was really slow. They had 1 person working seating, food orders, cash register, and cleaning/set up. The lady seemed rude at first but we ignored it since she was the only one working all thos spots. Aside from that I recommend it amd please treat the employees with respect specially If they are the only ones attending the floor.

This place surprised me. The meats and side dishes were delicious. The flavor was really good and satisfying. It is Friday and I came at 7p.m. And there was no wait time. The service was good as well. This is definitely mom & pop owned. I will definitely be coming back. Please give this spot a chance, you wont regret it.

What happened to $10 AYCE Korean BBQ? Those were the good old days. My best friend mentioned this place that she and her husband have been frequenting for Korean BBQ. I hadn't had KBBQ in a while so I was looking forward to try this place out; she mentioned it being the cheapest she's found currently with inflation raising food prices everywhere. I liked the sound of that, so we went to have dinner recently and boy, let me tell you, just pay double to have a better dining experience elsewhere. Or go to Gen for lunch for $19.99 which is only a few extra dollars than this place but 10 times a better dining experience in all aspects. My friend was vividly embarrassed and kept apologizing for every mishap throughout the course of our dinner. I kept reassuring her it was OK, trying to empathize with that the server as she was probably just very stressed and really busy but we were actually 1 of maybe 3 or 4 tables. I am very mindful of the way I order when dining out, I address my/our table's needs and am respectful and gracious with the deliverance of my requests as well as the service being provided in general. I don't know at what point this server reached the state she was in, but man was she mad. My friend couldn't believe she was behaving in such a manner, and I also wasn't sure what her issue was as we weren't being needy, we waited such a long time to get refills on side dishes and meat. At one point I was ready to ask her if she was OK, but my friend said there was no way to ask that without her getting more upset. I felt bad for the stress she was probably under tending to tables with just one other person on the floor but like I mentioned, it wasn't all that busy. Her attitude was making me doubt myself but no, I was never rude or making excessive requests. The food was OK. You have to request what side dishes you want and even when we did, she brought one of everything anyway leading to food waste as we did not want a few of those items. My favorite part of KBBQ is the potato salad and this one was the worst I've ever had. It was bland, tasteless, and there were some macaroni noodles in it for some reason. I ate it anyway, as I was hungry waiting on more meat. The glass noodles were super, super, and I mean, super, oily. I'm glad she didn't bring out any rice cause that was probably dry and would have killed me. Haha. Anyway, I found a hair in our food on 2 different occasions that same evening. They were short black hairs, I have long brown hair and my friend has kinky short curls. I never addressed it due to the already tense situation we felt we were in with this woman, but I wanted to point that out. The other issue worth mentioning is that we had to ask for a grill change, which was already something that should have been done without our request due to the condition of our charred up grill. But this woman had the audacity to tell my friend, "no it's fine, this is your last plate anyway". We had not had that much meat considering the excessive waiting to get some service. Every table was ringing the damn bell to get someone to their table, so her making this remark really did upset me. We requested a grill change regardless of how much more we were going to eat and that was NOT to be determined by her. After that, we just wanted to finish our food, pay our bill and leave. Bad service is not justified by lower pricing and crappy outdated seating and equipment (the grills were on top of greasy old camping stoves). I tried my best to enjoy my time with my friend and the food we had a chance to try, but there were too many issues that evening to just brush off. I would not recommend dining here if you're craving Korean BBQ for a multitude of reasons.
