Great food, the kiddos loved it. We had a really kind hostess named Anaya. The food was amazing and I loved the service. Try the Brussel sprouts and the goat cheese bruschetta. I got sat at a nice table and had a good waitress. Thank you Cork & Fork for a great night.

Worst service I’ve had in years
Waited 20 minutes before anyone came to take drink orders
Another 20 before drinks arrived and some were wrong
Another 15 before someone came to take appetizers but only after I went and cooked

Really disappointing experience.

Service was slow from the moment we sat down, and the restaurant seemed completely unprepared for the night. A major item on the menu, pizza, was already unavailable, which was surprising considering how central it is to what they serve.

The food that did come out was underwhelming. The salad had strange clumps of cheese at the bottom and the dumplings were nothing special. The biggest issue was the main course. After waiting about 40 minutes, we were told the chicken entrée we ordered couldn’t be made due to a kitchen problem and were asked to order something else.

By that point we had already spent close to an hour there and still didn’t have a proper meal. There was little urgency to fix the situation and no real effort to make the experience right.

Overall it felt like a waste of time. Between the disorganization, the mediocre food, and the lack of accountability, it’s hard to recommend.

I knew Cork & Fork was a bust as soon as I saw the offensive LED circular light fixtures littered accross the ceiling, casting patrons with a sickly airport terminal lighting. I tried to remain positive because my dad had spent an hour researching restaurant and decided this was the best choice.

“Small plates!” - he exclaimed, getting us excited for the tapas meal of our lives. We were seated near the swinging kitchen door; my fingers touching one sticky surface after another: pushing in my chair, aligning the gaudy gold silverware, plucking the laminated menu from the table.

Our kind server explained to us that the menu was filled with “small plates” that were meant to be shared. We then asked her if the entre items were also meant to be shared - “no” she responded. So in essence, this restaurant had appetizers, and entrees. It turns out, all plates, wether meant to be shared or not, were extremely small portions, horribly executed, and painfully overpriced.

The famed truffle fries were so salty they were inedible. And believe me, I’m not one of those healthy people that doesn’t eat salt- I ate half a jar of castle ventrano olives just the other day, and I normally love salty fries.

The brussel sprouts appetizer came in a bowl smaller than a cereal bowl. each of our party of 5 got 1.5 brussel sprouts. But there were plenty of bacon bits - more than half the menu items rely on bacon to carry the dish into flavor town. The menu itself is stuck wayyyy in the 90s in terms of flavor profile, but that’s to be expected from Palm Desert, no offense.

My mom and I split the “Umami” pizza, which was so chock full of liquid smoke it tasted like a burnt plastic container left in the microwave. We also split an entree salad which came in yet another rediculously tiny bowl. It was criminal how much we paid for what was essentially a side salad but advertised as a full entree.

There was some mishap and we ended up getting 2 plates of tacos that we did not order. This was a happy accident because despite ordering 4 “share plates” and 5 entrees, we were all still very hungry.

Some plates that were actually edible were: the Scottish salmon and some kind of fish stew my dad ordered. The tacos were actually probably the best thing we tried. Our server was also extremely nice. I know she didn’t design the menu, the restaurant concept, or the lighting. I would say the best part of all was being able to bond with family over how horrible the restaurant is. Whoever manages this place might want to go into a different line of work entirely, or get some help. This place is seriously an abomination - put a fork in it!

Food taste was great but the portions were tiny. Small enough that you left hungry after eating pasta dinner. Service was so so.

The noise level in the small room was just unacceptable. We could not hear ourselves talk or carry on a conversation.

Chuck

Noisy, hard to have a conversation inside. Otherwise everything was good. I would definitely go back and sit outside.

Filet tacos and shrimp tacos are very good. We sat in “back” room because we didn't want it to be noisy.

We always enjoy dining at Cork & Fork. The atmosphere always pleasant, noise level is minimal, food is always great and waitstaff very pleasant.

Food was mediocre. They specifically asked if we would like our appetizers at the same time as the main course and we said no. Them they brought them altogether and so the mains were cold but the time we got to them.

We thought we were going to a 5pm happy hour. It turns out you have to sit at certain tables. There were seats available but as my husband is handicapped, we were unable to sit there. I was surprised that this was not something that could be solved. The restaurant was definite- not sitting on certain seats meant no happy hour pricing.

We have been coming to Cork & Fork for years, and at our most recent visit have noticed that while the prices have been increasing the portion sizes have been decreasing. Specifically, the size of the luau salad and the bread pudding were laughable considering that the ingredients are not inherently expensive. Still tasty, but not worth the money anymore.
