Our expectations were low for a basic strip mall sushi place, but Sam's delivered us to a high-backed private booth (for which we had a reservation). But they had tables available on a Friday night during the high season, the service was prompt and attentive, and the food was better than what we're used to at Okura. I loved their seaweed salad, and the avocado-cucumber rolls. My hubs got a spider roll. No liquor license, but they do serve wine, saki, and Japanese beer. The ambiance is casual and relaxed: TVs playing, bright lights. But we would take visitors there. And the bill was half as much as Okura! We still like Okura with its $20 martinis and sexy vibe.

We ordered an huge assortment of rolls and apps to go via the phone. The server got repeated the order perfect and said 20 min wait. Food was ready when we got there but didn’t notice till we got back to hotel that they did bot give us 1/2 the food and ended up having to drive back for it. Miso soup was great along with the Rose Roll and Sam’s roll.

I have been going to Sams for years and years and I love it BUT my grandmother and son had a visit and my grandmother was 1st told that they could not delete the item that they accidentally charged her for BUT THEN, they added their own tip! This is STEALING. They assumed she was old and wouldn't notice but she checks her account everyday. I called and spoke to the manager who did see the false charge as well as the "accidentally " charge but really didn't seem to grasp how big of a deal this really is..PLEASE CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS AFTER YOU LEAVE. Sad that this is even an issue we have to be aware of.

Food was ok. Didn't feel great after.
I do not recommend.
The restaurant was real dirty and is not very well maintained.
Bathroom was disgusting.
Raw fish was not cold but room temperature.
Not returning.

I have known Sam for twenty years. Before he opened his own place, he was the best sushi chef and Korean food operator in town. He has always been consistent, and his food is always great.

Very good sushi. We had the Golden Lion roll - very good but it's huge so get a bit messy to eat. Try the Mexican roll - delicious. Not too spicy and very well presented.
We had Gyoza as an appetizer, and it was okey. Nice crunch and served with a warm dip sauce, not the "traditional salty one" more a "stock" based sauce.
Nice chairs (comfy) when you sit for while. Nice booths around the walls.
Service is excellent, fast, and welcoming.
Great place for good sushi!

This is a casual sushi spot. For the market segment, it's fantastic. I live out of town, but when I visit Mom, this is a regular haunt. I've been to fancier spots within 5-7 miles of here and their decorations/atmosphere are the only thing you're paying more for.

Came here because it says "Sushi and Japanese fare join Korean BBQ" on Google. There is nothing Korean on the menu unfortunately, so was a bit let down as O came for Korean BBQ. Otherwise good though.
On leaving I found a place called Sam's Korean BBQ in a strip mall behind that I could not see when I arrived. I wish the waitress told me about it when I asked if there was Korean food. So there is Korean food, but it's nearby (I'm assuming the two locations are related.)
