I have never left a bad review for a restaurant. This is the first one. I have no idea how the food is because after seated half hour no one was coming by for even drinks. This party of 10 came in way after us with a bunch of kids and they were immediately helped. We tried to sit a sushi bar but there were dirty dishes in every spot. We got up and left. First and last time we will go there. Worst service I have had anywhere.
Great menu to choose from.
Outdoor patio seating available.
So many vegetarian sushi options. Creative, fun. It's good. Some of the best. Going back to try more
Kiki Sushi was one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in ages. My friend has Celiac’s Disease, so I called ahead to verify their food prep practices & allergens. They were super helpful over the phone, even though I forgot and called during dinner rush. Everything seemed great, and when we arrived they had already had notes for our table & vetted every single thing on the table to ensure my friend was safely able to eat. Not only was the food safe and prepared fully gluten-free, but it may have been the best sushi I’ve ever had. And I LOVE sushi!! We also had veggie tempura and it was wasn’t overly battered or greasy, which seems common every other place I’ve been. The waiter was amazing, our drinks stayed full throughout the meal with the help of another gal on the floor, and we thoroughly enjoyed every single moment of Kiki Sushi. Thank you for an amazing evening out!
I have been going to the one in Berkeley for many years and the food is very good the service is very good and now every time I go there is like going to the bank they know me and they know what I like to start with, I love healthy sushi and I’ve been to many sushi restaurants but KIKu has that touch of freshness I keep going back… I live in Fremont and I go to Berkeley or Lafayette when I have that desire of good healthy food, I recommend it… go and happy eating.
It’s been a long time since I’ve had such poor service. Seemed like they had one waitress for the whole restaurant. We were getting ready to leave when who I assume was the owner came over and took our order. The starter salad was unremarkable, even by Japanese restaurant standards. The miso soup was tasteless, which I never thought was possible. And my pork kiatsu was gristley, bland and was served 10 minutes after everyone else’s entrees came to the table. I wished I could wash it down with some water, but they never bothered bringing water to our table. I’d give this restaurant zero stars, but my wife and daughter liked their entrees so I’ll give it 2 stars.

Recommended dishes: Roll, Seaweed Salad
I ordered a spicy scallop roll, mushroom soup & seaweed salad. The soup was outstanding. but the roll never came. When I asked about it, server pointed to someone else’s plate with 2 rolls. She had ordered 2 rolls herself, so I didn’t get a meal.
Made no sense. Everyone else had their order on a plate in front of them. If they put my order on someone else’s plate, what happened their order?
Seaweed salad reminded me of nylon scrub pad for dishes. Hard, dry, tasteless. I couldn’t chew it, no matter how long I tried. Like a bunch of metal springs in my mouth. Afterwards went home & ate leftovers.

Outstanding vegetarian dishes; start with their signature items - the Kiku Roll & Kiku soup. The owner is a mushroom aficionado. Cute setting just off Mt Diablo Blvd with ez parking.

Kiku is a great spot for excellent sushi that includes a “board” of special types of fish. Great place and our new go to spot.

There are so many clearly labeled vegan things here. I tried the avocado tempura sushi and curry udon, both were delicious.
We love the inventive and delicious vegan and vegetarian options as well as the very fresh traditional sushi options.

Went to Kiku Sushi in Lafayette for dinner and the staff were welcoming and efficient, even on a busy night. A main attraction for me is that there’s a full vegetarian menu, so you can find dishes beyond avocado roll and don’t have to worry about whether they contain fish stock or flakes. Memorable dish: Nasu Miso, which is grilled Japanese eggplant with sweet miso, $9.50. Kiku has a sister restaurant in Berkeley – I enjoyed eating at both of them – service, food, and ambiance were solid in both branches. For those looking for fully vegan Japanese restaurants in Berkeley, I can also recommend Cha-ya or Tane Vegan Izakaya, both of which are on Shattuck Ave. I’m also giving Kiku Sushi 4/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact. • Both branches of Kiku have an emphasis on vegetarian items with a fully vegetarian menu that helps avoid any confusion or mistakes while ordering. • The menu does feature fish and a couple of chicken or pork dishes, but avoids the most climate-unfriendly meats – beef and lamb. • Fyi, if you want to choose climate-friendly fish, then small pelagic fish (sardines, mackerel, anchovies), farmed bivalves (oysters, mussels, scallops), and some wild salmonids (salmon and trout) are your best bets. Avoid crustaceans such as shrimp, prawns, crabs, and lobster. • Kiku doesn’t provide any information on sourcing of fish or other ingredients. Please join in and include a Green Stars rating with your own reviews!
Bug in the soy sauce, very slow service, mediocre food. Probably the worst sushi experience I’ve ever had.
