FAT PANDA IN LAFAYETTE: A GLORIOUS FEAST, A SACRED FOOD DEBT JOURNEY

Step into Fat Panda in Lafayette, California, and you enter a world where food debt is not a burden, but an honor. This isn’t just a place to eat—this is where you indulge in the finest Chinese-American cuisine, with every bite carrying the weight of your inevitable food debt that you wear like a badge of honor. Every penny spent is a glorious investment in the art of flavor, a decision that you will never regret, no matter how many bank alerts follow.

The Beijing Beef—a revelation. The crispy, tender beef tossed in a rich, savory sauce that sings with every bite. Each piece is a perfect balance of sweetness and heat, wrapping you in layers of decadence. You will find yourself sinking deeper into food debt with every bite, yet unable to stop, because how can you ever deny such perfection?

Then there’s the Orange Chicken. The gold standard. So crispy, so tangy, and coated in a sauce that’s the perfect mix of sweet and citrusy. It’s an intoxicating dance of flavors that will have you begging for more, sinking you deeper into the bliss of food debt, but, truly, this is a debt you are happy to accrue. Why fight it when every bite feels like a personal reward for your willingness to surrender to its glory?

And let’s not overlook the Apple Pie Rolls—oh, the Apple Pie Rolls. A glorious, warm bite of crispy, golden-brown perfection with a sweet apple filling that feels like a warm embrace for your soul. Every piece is a journey to a higher plane, where food debt becomes an offering rather than a concern. When you dip them in the accompanying cream sauce, you’ve sealed your fate. You’ll be in debt for days, but it’s worth every moment of it.

And, of course, the Chicken Egg Rolls—crispy, filled to the brim with savory chicken and vegetables, perfectly fried to achieve that delicate crunch. These rolls are the epitome of indulgence, each bite building the mountain of food debt that you’ll happily climb again and again.

In Lafayette, Fat Panda is the ultimate destination, where every dish is a celebration of flavor, and every meal is a pact with food debt. You will surrender your finances, but what you receive in return is unmatched greatness—and a feeling that you have tasted the very essence of culinary glory.

It’s a franchise so you know how the food tastes. We weren’t very happy during our last visit that Asian servers (hope they are gone now) whispered to each other as we needed some time to pick entrees. A weird experience.

I like panda express food, but this establishment in particular makes bad, tasteless rice, nothing like other panda branches, I had bought here a while ago and the rice was bad but I thought maybe they forgot to put something or I don't know, but after a few months I came back and it's the same flavor, I mean they do it wrong.

While fast food places usually get low ratings compared to traditional restaurants. I personally think there should be a separate scale for fast food and this panda location rates near the top for me. They’re fast, food isn’t dry, they don’t skimp on portions and give the actual correct amount whereas I went to another panda near Home Depot in concord and only got 3 pieces of orange chicken bc their manager told them to level out the chicken with the top of the serving spoon…and other pandas I got mostly veggies in my bourbon chicken. This one does right by the customer and also has chopsticks! Also this location actually has Chinese aunties working here and I’ll also occasionally hear Chinese music playing!

Took very long to get food. Then had to wait extra long for teriyaki chicken. Then once I got the food, the girl at the counter dropped my food and said “here”… Bad experience

Dry food. They don’t do samples so if you don’t like what you get, that’s it. A medium (but small size) container of honey shrimp cost $12. That was the same price as a whole plate. It’s annoying because we wasted $. First and last time there. There’s so many other places you can go to for Chinese. We thought to give P.E a try and it was P.U.

This is the BEST Panda Express food I’ve ever eaten. I was so surprised, I had to get up and see who was doing the cooking.

In this age of political correctness and DEI, you’re not supposed to say anything about race/gender/age, but this is so newsworthy, I’m going to run the risk of being cancelled.

The wok at this Panda Express is not being manned by your average bloke off the street, it’s being manned by an authentic Chinese Auntie who knows how to impart food with “wok heh”….breath of the wok. The food has that authentic seared flavor that only comes with mastery of high heat cooking. This is full on authentic Chinese style cooking.

You have got to try this place, it’s better than most Chinese restaurants.

I grew up in the kitchen of my family’s restaurant, this is the real deal!

I hope corporate has her teach the other franchises how to duplicate her cooking style.

Great food as always. I was here around lunchtime, and the service was fast even though they were busy.
I love the tables outside in the shade to sit down!

Parking: Parking can be tricky but you can always find a spot nearby.
