We really enjoy going to the Rising Loafer. We go there frequently on the weekends for the eggs Florentine and veggie omelet. They have the best hollandaise sauce, even better than I can make myself. It's a very simple place with an outdoor patio right by Trader Joe's and a very nice bookstore. The service is good and the owners are pleasant and friendly. We've had plenty of good experiences here and recommend it.

Honestly take 40 minutes with your Family and count your blessings for a lovely Homemade Breakfast or Lunch in the Heart of a Mom and Pops Restaurant tucked away in Lafayette California. Ive been in Laffayette for 17 years and Lafayette is changing with new ideas and fast paced ideas for Restaurants and forgetting the true heart and class of Lafayette. The Rising Loafer is a Diamond and hidden jewel and definitely worth every bite!! Please take the time to appreciate the Rising Loafer

Went to have breakfast with my Father and were greeted by a wonderful lady who happens to own the establishment. Great food, fresh ingredients. They bake bread and pastries in house. Very wonderful family owned business in the heart of Lafayette.

How does one describe the rudest person I've run into in a decade (and that includes several trips to the DMV). The old woman who waited on us had an immediate issue because we wanted to split a hamburger. It was a half-pound hamburger, so if they wanted us to order our own, serve a portion that I don't have to leave half of it on my plate. She said there's a $3 for cutting our hamburger in half. OK. Then we got our hamburger - not bad, but nowhere near what you'd expect for $16. The side that came with it was a less-than-mediocre potato salad. She never came back to our table to ask about food, service, or anything. When we were done, she brought our check and said "Cash only". Who does that any more? I was fortunate to have that much cash on me, as almost everything is by credit card. Nowhere on their menu or in their restaurant does it state this policy. So, are you ready for the punchline? As we exited the restaurant, she chased us out on the sidewalk and said "You don't have to come back". I mentioned something about a "cold day in hell", but other than that exchange, we said "please" when we requested something, and "thank you" when it arrived, while all we got were dirty looks throughout the whole experience. Live and learn, eh?

I was horrified by the rude owner! My mom and I had lunch and I told my mother that I used to love going there quite a long time ago. When I walked in (at lunchtime) there was only one other customer. I asked if salads were still served and she told me to "look at the menu". It only got worse, my mom said she thought we should leave and I said, "let's just give it a chance, the salads sub par, the service was extremely rude, definitely won't be back and this no way resembles the wonderful place I used to frequent many years ago.

I've been going to The Rising Loafer in Danville since the 80s. The bread was 100, the sandwiches were pretty good. The spiced ice tea was one of a kind. What ruins the Lafayette experience is the crabapple owner Maria who cannot seem to realize that her waiting tables days should have been over decades ago. I'd say get the food to go, but you still risk an interaction either way this brusque, abrasive, and dare I say borderline illiterate owner who for several years now has been driving this business into the ground. Avoid at all costs, in fact don't even come NEAR this restaurant; as other reviews will indicate, she is barking and snapping at people in the restaurant, outside the restaurant, and even people in the parking lot!

If they're still in business maybe you should give them a try. Maybe the Crabby Lady owner has learned to be nicer now to attract business. The gentleman owner who originally greeted us seemed kind. We got up and left before ordering (due to "Crabby") maybe their food is good.

Their bread is the best. No additives or gimmicks, just pure fresh baked bread.

Worst hospitability experience! The owners are EXTREMELY rude and do not make the meal an enjoyable experience. Do not even think about stepping a single toe they deem out of line, otherwise, you will get a lecture as your side dish. You get a better customer experience and food from the donut shop a block away.

BE AWARE- Horrible Customer Experience Today my 2 teens were about to order some drinks and lunch when they put their purchases (from the surrounding shops) on the chairs outside where they planned to sit. There were 3 people inside and nobody outside at this time. They were quickly and rudely approached by an angry woman with an accent and black curly hair wearing glasses. She asked them their age. Then insisted that they are old enough to read and could have read the sign posted that the tables are for customers only. My teens responded and began to apologize and explain when she cut them off saying that she needed to pay her rent and if they (the teens) didn't buy something then she wouldn't have money for rent. She carried on about how shes struggling financially to pay her taxes as well. Both my kids were really looking forward to relaxing and dining while they look over their purchases when this troubled woman harassed them and really messed up their day There are so many spots in Lafayette where there is excellent customer service and food. Looking at the recent reviews my teens probably saved themselves from a bland experience- not to mention it seems like they have something against teens and kids.
