Sadly Uncle Yu's food fails in many ways: Very soggy, nothing crispy huere. if you like crispy Orange beef or chicken you will not find it here.. Flavors are generally lacking. The Mongolian beef looked like slop, a mash of over cooked vegetables and tiny beef pieces, in a gooey corn starch laden sauce. Does not hold a candle to Mongolian from P F Chang where they use beef filet. Even the egg rolls lacked flavor and were filled with stringy veges. The Orange chicken was bad, the breading should be tangy and crunchy, not bland and gooey. Panda Express (down Mt Diablo Blvd) is half the price and the food is much better. The spoiler was when the owner wanted to charge me for a small take out Hoisin Sauce container. Amazing! Avoid the Uncle if you want good food.

We've been going to Uncle Yu's for 35 yrs. It has lost a step or two over the years. From the egg rolls to the pork fried rice it all tastes bad. There is no flavor, well the flavor of the 800 year old unwashed wok comes shining through, but otherwise is tasteless. Like brine water from olives. Even the fortune cookies are horrible. My wife cracked it open read the fortune "you will be redecorating this year" and said " I'll be reevaluating my dining this year" and spit the cookie out. This place needs a complete overhaul or closure. But since I am homer, I am rooting for them to find a good chef and new cookware. Maybe pass the baton to the nephew....

My wife and I were eating lunch at Uncle Yu's last week, seated near the kitchen, and we saw THREE RATS scurry out of the kitchen across the dining room floor! Needless to say, we ended our meal abruptly and won't be back! The health dept needs to shut this place down!

Got DoorDash order tonight and it was awful. The almond chicken had stale almonds. The egg flower soup had no taste. Very disappointed

My wife and I were eating lunch near the kitchen and saw THREE RATS scurry out of the kitchen across the dining room floor! We alerted the manager but she shrugged it off like it was normal! Needless to say, we won't be back! The health dept should investigate this place! Unacceptable!

We moved from NY 10 years ago to watch our granddaughters grow up. As you can imagine NYC has some of the best Chinese food in the world.NYC Chinatown once got an overall 5 star rating from Michelin based upon you can great food in almost any restaurant. Using that as a baseline we have found the food at Uncle Yu's to be excellent. Everything is fresh and well made. We mostly take out but whenever we eat there the service is great and the ambiance is very comfortable. Looking at the reviews on yelp I cannot understand why anyone would give them a low rating. Maybe they don't really appreciate great Chinese food.

Food is the excellent. Not your run of the mill Chinese food. Very fresh and upscale dishes like Peking duck etc. great wine list too. My go to place for special Chinese food.

If negative stars were possible to give a restaurant, this horribly run business would deserve it. We have had several disappointing experiences but last night was the worst. We ordered over $200 worth of food for our family Christmas Eve dinner. Called at noon to make sure they had our order and would be ready at 6:30. My nieces picked up the food and were only given part of the order. When they asked about the 2nd bag of the order they were told there was only one even thought the receipt said 2. The lady was very rude to them. My sister and sons went back, again treated by unfriendly staff that was lying and trying to blame my nieces that they had the full order. They finally agreed to make the food. They got home again without the full order, no sauces, fortune cookies and chopsticks! I called and again was treated by a rude lady who blamed my family, never apologized. They clearly do not care about their customers. The quality of food was poor to top it off! It takes a lot for me to write a review but could not believe how my entire family was treated when we're just trying to have a nice Christmas Eve dinner.

Consistently good food. My favorites are the potstickers, BBQ pork chow mein, honey walnut prawns and rainbow chicken. I usually get take out but when dining in you get excellent service.

Before the Covid episode, this was an excellent restaurant. It is now open only for dinner and take out. Service was great if you like to be rushed. Food was ordinary and not very hot. Very disappointed and will never go back.
