My family decided to eat lunch here. We had ceviche, chowder for appetizers and scallops, fish and chips, and sea bass for the main entrees. All tasty and came with great portions. All seafoods and salads are extremely fresh and refreshing with lemon flavored sauces. Servers are very kind. One downside is that fried sea bass was very dry and not tender at all. Halibut was juicy and tender but dried Sea Bass?

Very festive place- loved it on our last visit. Not so much this time. Caesar salad was bland. Cisco makes a much better dressing than this chef. Included something called polenta croutons which were just awful. We’ll give it one more

Great service, fun menu. We shared all dishes, the Maui onion soup was wonderful. Loved the lamb & the fresh ricotta with honeycomb was delicious. I'll be back on our next visit

What a wonderful experience. The macadamia encrusted halibut special was wonderful, but the star of the show was the seafood pasta. We were thinking about it throughout the weekend. The service here is so wonderful. Couldn't recommend this place more if I tried.

A great dining experience, the wedge salad with a great balsamic vinaigrette was among the best we have had. The paella dish was wonderful that is almost as good as some of the dishes in Spain. Service was outstanding, happy to support local non chain restaurants.

230 Forest is one of our favorite restaurants. Set in Laguna Beach just a block from the water it is of course a tourist location, but goes far above your normal tourist food offering. The restaurant is located on a "closed to car traffic street" and has a nice covered patio area and also a small patio area connected to the restaurant that is inside. The location is great, but the food is the star of this restaurant. Literally everything is excellent, from the fish and chips, to the pasta, to chicken and salmon dishes, to a great assortment of appetizers. The location has a small bar that is half inside and half in the enclosed patio area. Again, we have eaten here for many years and never had a bad meal, actually the opposite is true, in that every dish is prepared with care and comes across in taste and presentation. It gets busy on the weekends and during spring and summer so they do accept reservations. Servers are excellent (this time we had Julia and she was both pleasant and attentive). Parking can be a challenge but there is street parking and lot parking one block away. I usually get lucky and find parking a couple of blocks away and enjoy the walk back. If you want excellent food in the middle of Laguna Beach this is a great choice.

This is the third time we've been here. Each time the food was very good and the wait staff is terrific. They all seem to be knowledgeable about the preparation and ingredients in each dish and are helpful when you are contemplating what you'd like to order. A shout out to Chris who waited on us last night.

Food and Service were just fabulous. That combination alone makes me want to come back. Everyone from Lucy (who answered the phone and hosts) to the lovely people refilling our water before we thought to ask .. Great experience!

Consistently great food served hot and swiftly with great service all round from front of the house, servers and bar staff. Patrick, Mike, Ryan and Robbie stand out with their professional and friendly service.

Great service, feels like a NY bistro, cozy, warm, loud with a warm atmosphere, perfect size menu wit specials, which I had, generous portion of perfectly cooked halibut finished two ways. Lively. Great shoestring fries and plenty of them. Great experience. Thank you.

This restaurant was hideous. How did they EVER win any awards!? The appetizer was just so-so and not worth the $17. You expect something special at that price. The entree was swimming in oil and barely eatable, but expensive ($36!). I had to take Pepto Bismol. The mushrooms were as tough as a tire patch. The crispy quinoa was soggy and drenched in a heavy, tasteless goo. No flavor whatsoever. The waiter was stressed out and never once smiled. The tabletop was so dirty that my sleeves were sticking to it. Never in my life have we ever been ripped off so badly and so disappointed with the food. The health department needs to shut them down. Save your money and go ANYWHERE ELSE!
