We had a great dinner here on a Friday night. We definitely recommended making a reservation before hand. It’s a really good if small restaurant. Our server, Rodi, was wonderful. She was attentive, kind, and very helpful. Food was delicious! We shared the Street corn appetizer, and the short rib enchiladas were a hit. We also shared the churro dessert, so good! Every bite was perfect. If we could give one critique, the restaurant didn’t have the best smell when we walked in. But we all quickly forgot when our food arrived.

The Paddillada was said to be for two, but it was more for 3. The chips and salsa have a small container of refried beans as well and it was oh so good. Very good food and service.

Been here twice and the food is consistently delicious. Unfortunately, this last visit left me really disappointed with the service. Once a large group walked in, our table was basically abandoned. After our food arrived, we needed several things—an extra spoon, a knife to cut the corn off the cob, napkins, drink refills, tortillas—and the person who dropped off our plates didn’t say a word or check if we needed anything. Neither did our waiter.
For about 25 minutes I kept trying to get our waiter’s attention, but he was busy making drinks behind the bar and didn’t come back until it was time to pay. I honestly expected at least a quick apology or some acknowledgment that we hadn’t seen him in a long stretch, but there was none.
Great food, but the lack of attention and accountability from the staff made the experience really disappointing.

Visiting from Boston. We were on our way to another restaurant and our uber driver recommended Carmelita’s and it did not disappoint. Warm chips w/ salsa, bean dip and guacamole to start hit the spot after a long day of traveling. For entrees we had the steak tacos and short rib enchiladas and they were equally delicious. Would highly recommend this place. Very clean, beautiful restaurant. Our server (Rodi) was excellent! 5 STARS!

Ok so been coming to Laguna Beach restaurants for years but have never had such a terrible experience as I am having right now - it has been a litany of issues from start to finish - booked a table for 4 for 6:00pm arrived early still waited 30 mins and was then seated on a public bench with no heating - GOD awful and when you are paying these prices you expect more the whole experience is awful feel like just walking away we will NEVER return it’s pathetic and I can’t believe what they will charge me for this - next time back to true tried and tested South of Nicks a completely better dining experience in the same price range but OMG so much better - ok I rarely write reviews and then always positive but I have never been treated so badly and expected to enjoy - this is a truly crappy experience start to finish
