Great Sashimi and tried some sushi and It's a 40 years of family run restaurant and I love to support them. Keep up the good work

Best sushi locally by far unless you are looking for a super expensive (over $200 per person) and elite experience. Amazing and creative sushi items ($15-20). Some unique and fabulous food creations. Weird and dated vibe but very pleasant and charming if you are not a clean freak. Lots of decorative items are part of a 30+ year experience that makes this place like home. Probably my favorite food experience!

Came here with my wife and 2yr old. Fish is very fresh and it’s fairly traditional. Our rolls were not smothered in sauce like most places. 10/10

Stopped in for a quick lunch today with my boyfriend. We had a california roll, a salmon skin roll, and some miso soup. It was all delicious! The service was quick and amazing. The gentleman working the counter was so sweet and energetic he made the experience so fun!

Upon walking in, my friends and I sat ourselves in the front row nearest to the bathroom. We were greeted and welcomed which was nice. After we settled in our orders were taken and we proceeded to wait. There wasn’t very many customer during our stay so we figured the wait wouldn't be too long since there was just another family dining prior. Unfortunately, we waited around 15-20min for our food to arrive and all the orders were wrong. Both of my friends ordered the same exact item which was the ‘97 special’ but received only one item that was asked for and a random dish we didn’t order. I was given another ‘97 special’ though I had asked for the ‘79 special.’ After getting our orders wrong I was somewhat upset because this was surprisingly one of my friend’s first time trying sushi. We also noticed the family that was originally sitting in the seats near the entrance had commented towards the chef that the orders were wrong and they received a dish that the wife was allergic to so they were forced to set it aside without a touch. None of the employees took the dish back and upon receiving their bill they were charged for the dish they hadn’t eaten. When I received my food which was around 10-15min after sending the wrong order back, I took a bit and was extremely unsatisfied. The sushi I ate was lukewarm and not as flavorful as I hoped compared to my friends sushi which I personally enjoyed. Don’t order the ‘79 special’ or simply don’t dine at this restaurant because there are definitely more interesting and tasty options around Laguna Beach with quality customer service.

We had a wonderful lunch, seaweed salad was divine and the sushi rolls excellent. Good service, good music and a charming Japanese chef behind the counter in this super cute and authentic feeling restaurant.

Hapi has the feel of a small sushi place in Japan. We enjoyed our meal of seaweed salad, edamame and rainbow roll.
Parking: It is likely that parking will be hard to find and a little pricey during the summer months when the art festivals are open. You may want to try parking in a public lot and walking to the restaurant. Better yet, get a ride share into town and use the free shuttles to get around town.

Small sushi place with a limited menu. However, the staff was wonderful - kind, attentive, and thorough. Good food with daily specials on a board behind the chef.

Great cozy, authentic place in a great neighborhood with reasonable prices for sushi rolls. Chef is so genuinely nice. I ordered the green muscles and dropped the dish accidentally (totally my fault), and he still insisted on giving me another dish on the house. He really didn't have to do that. Can't recommend him enough.

Found this place by accident. When we arrived we were the only ones in the place, which was just fine. Once we made a decision, the rolls came out fast and delicious. Glad we stumbled upon this cute little nook to dine in.

Small restaurant with very nice staff. We intended to dine in but had to get our food to go so our kid could have more room to run around. They boxed everything up without a problem. We enjoyed the miso soup, seaweed salad, and a few different rolls.
