South Swell Ice Cream

This place is tasty. Very sugary sweet treats, but yummy. We ordered one bar and one soft serve type, but the soft serve is a way better base. The girls working the ice cream shop were young, but attentive. But, they had no AC in the shop which was really brutal with our hot summer. I asked one of the girls about the heat and she said the AC broke. But, you're in Laguna Beach, charging top dollar, have a busy flow of people non-stop and have ice cream and workers that need to be supported with cooler conditions. I hope the owners chopse to address the cooling conditions.

This place was such a disappointment. The tables were dirty, the staff wasn’t attentive at all, and the service felt careless. They only had one soft serve flavor, and the toppings were stale and cheap—honestly something I could’ve thrown together at home. For $8, it’s an absolute rip off. If you’re charging that much, there should be quality toppings or something unique to make it worthwhile. Definitely not coming back and wouldn’t recommend.

Ice cream and dipped bananas are great! Always a good stop for dessert. Seating is limited; but recommended waking down street to water.

We love South Swell! They have the options for your base: vanilla or chocolate ice cream bar, vanilla or chocolate or swirl soft serve, frozen banana, or dairy free ice cream bar. Then you choose your toppings/chocolate dip. You could go every single night for a year and still not try all the combinations! So delicious. The line gets long on summer nights but normally moves quickly and defo worth the wait. Fun music while you wait in line normally too.

Service is horrible

Just visited and waited forever just to find out that the soft serve machine wasn't working. Overrated. Do not go!!

Horrible. Arrived at 9:30 only to be told by people ahead of us that they are no longer serving people for the night. I thought yall closed at 10? At least have the employees let us know this is just rude and disrespectful because we waited for 10 minutes before anyone told us anything. If you want to get ice cream here I suggest lining up by 8 so you don’t get cut off in line :)

Worth the wait! A bit of a line but the deliciousness totally made up for it. The flavor combinations (like salted caramel and toasted coconut or Nutrageous) were creative and tasty. Big shoutout to the staff, too – good vibes only, even with a crowd.

The ice cream was very good! I’m disappointed the service wasn’t the same. The girl who helped us judged our ordered and it made us feel uncomfortable. I think when you go and pay for dessert it shouldn’t matter what you order. You’re still paying for it?
