We are locals and decided to try this place after passing it on the freeway so many times and because of the excellent review here. We were a little disappointed. This is just a simple hotel coffee shop. The servers during the breakfast shift on 8/6 were completely flummoxed when I said we had reservations. They did not speak English well. When I went to the hotel front desk to ask if there was another restaurant, the clerk just gave me a blank look. The service was poor but the food was good and the value is excellent for this area.

I was very impressed with the Mother's Day brunch. I was greeted with a long stem rose. A bottle of Prosecco was served at each table. I love the fresh orange juice. A wide variety of brunch selections including an omelet bar. Bread pudding with vanilla ice cream for dessert. The price was so reasonable too!

Truth be told I had quit staying at the Comfort suites chain because many of the properties had become "dated" and more like motels. This property is located in south orange county where there is not a lot to choose from if you want a real hotel (vs a motel type of property) This property has been totally renovated (the previous 2 chains had let the property deteriorate) and is centrally located to freeway and dining establishment...I did not use the internet so I can't comment on that and i left b4 breakfast was started (at 6:30 am)...I would have like to start the day with a hot breakfast but instead of getting at 5:30 am wake up call i got a 4;30 am wake up call (not cool) and that threw my whole morning into chaos ( i gracefully accepted the apology from the front desk that morning-wasnt their fault --it was the nite staff from the previous evening) U should know that the theres only 1 ice machine and its on the 1st floor which is inconvenient if u dont know ...because after u check into your room you have to go alll the way back to the 1st floor..so the staff should mention that at check in all in all i would stay there again and its a very nice hotel

I stayed at The Hills Hotel for the first time from Thursday, August 5 through Sunday, August 8, 2021, paying what I considered a very aggressive room rate for the grade level of the property. Regrettably, I must characterize the experience as not positive. The hotel's wi-fi network proved the worst I've ever experienced. Not since the early days of having to access the Internet through telephone lines have I experienced such slowness even when the network clunkily allowed me to access any content. My devices were not at fault; they worked perfectly (and fast) away from the hotel. Repeatedly I asked employees at the hotel's front desk to contact the hotel's Internet service provider so it could troubleshoot the problem. Those efforts (even if they were made) brought no improvement. In my room, the hardware operating the window drapes proved so deteriorated that I could hardly open and close either set of drapes. At one point, a wand became detached from the drapery rod; fortunately I figured out how to reattach the wand to the rod. The worst experience, however, involved the snazzy grand piano in the hotel's lobby. One afternoon, with no one else in the lobby, I nicely asked an employee at the front desk whether I could play the piano a bit. An experienced pianist, I wanted to practice some before playing for my Mother later that day. The employee responded, "The piano's locked. We can't allow guests to play it." I responded, "You mean you won't [allow guests to play it]." What harm would it have caused to allow a guest to use an available, otherwise unused amenity? Clearly, this was a matter of some unthinking manager deciding it was easier to say "no" rather than "yes." I can report one positive aspect of staying at The Hills Hotel: the shower provided strong pressure and plenty of hot water.

The Hills Hotel in Laguna Hills was probably once a very nice property. Unfortunately, it has seen better days. Here are the pros: The staff is very friendly and tries to be accommodating. It has a nice area for breakfast; however, I cannot comment on the quality of the restaurant because due to Covid restrictions, it was only open for breakfast and the meal items were extremely limited. The water pressure in the shower was excellent. If you stay in one of the even numbered rooms (on the pool side), it is fairly quiet unless you are disturbed by the loud vehicles that keep going back and forth in the parking lot where there seems to be a lot of activity at the back end of the parking lot. I have no idea what's going on there, but I would venture to guess that it's not anything good. The hotel itself seems to be in need of repair in a number of areas. Things are just starting to look run-down. The linens and towels did appear to be new and clean, though. The neighborhood, especially the parking lot was full of people that made me nervous. I just felt that maybe something was going out out there that wasn't quite right.

This place looks so fancy online AND is a sponsor of the fancy horse show we were attending so we figured it had to be nice...WRONG. We were scheduled to stay 11 days and only made it one night. The appointed pet rooms are absolutely filthy and reek like a kennel (so many stains, trash and food on ground, mildew and mold in bathroom). There was a strong sewer stench coming from the shower drain and toilet still had some residual pee stains on it. Apart from the filthy room, the paper thin walls and doors allowed every sound in the hall to permeate into our room making for a sleepless night. Needless to say we checked out and moved hotels. Avoid this place if you can. Maybe the non-pet rooms are better.

The whole hotel was really nice. I would definitely stay again.

I stayed at this hotel March 16th 2018 and was stuck by a used hypodermic needle. The needle was hidden in the folds of the bedding and it stuck in my finger. I spent 4 hours in the Mission Viejo hospital ER followed by a year of blood test for various diseases. While at the ER the hotel moved my belongings to a different room. I still had to pay for the room the next morning.

This is such a great place to stop into and unwind after a long day. I was staying at the Hills Hotel on business and decided to stop in. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. I did order the Cobb salad and I must say it's one of the best I've had.
