Let me start with the positive. The food is tasty but the menu is limited & almost all the dishes are spicy hot or hotter & not edible by people (my wife specifically) who are unable to tolerate even mildly spicy food. From there it is all downhill. 1) there is a VERY limited choice of drinks including NO regular or iced tea or coffee though they do have chai tea but they ONLY serve with milk. You cannot get plain black, green or decaf tea or coffee . 2) they DO NOT allow you to bring in your own bottled drinks!!! That is their policy I was informed. 3) they have a lunchtime special that includes rice but no substitute if you don't like rice. This probably is true for dinner as well I expect. 4) serving staff doesn't speak intelligible English & doesn't have the wherewithal to explain what the dishes contain. And finally, for an upscale restaurant they serve water in plastic cups & the chai tea in cardboard cups. As far as ambience goes, there is none. The restaurant is in a large glass enclosure with no charm. I wouldn't recommend this place to a starving man, woman or child!!! If it closed down tomorrow, it would be no loss to the community.

The goat Bryanni was the best Bryanni in my life I highly recommend it ! It's very authentic homemade taste and not greasy and it doesn't make you sleepy afterwards. very very very very goooood!!!!! I will be back again for sure ((:

Came here visiting with family. Authentic Indian food so if ur used to getting chicken tikka as only option for Indian food this may be a wake up for tastebuds. Chicken 65 biriyani Aloo gobi app Goat curry Cauliflower fried- really good Naan Rice The food takes a while to come out, and we had to remind them several times to bring out rice, and we were practically done with our food by the time the rice came out . I would go back if family suggests it.

Ordered takeout on Friday night, very delicious food. Halim, Ghee roast chicken, Bezawada Biryani, 3 garlic naan Wish their site to order takeout worked. I had to call to place the order. Still I'll be ordering food from here again. Hope they maintain quality and quantity, and not follow all the desi restaurant's trend in OC

This is a new place and the whole menu looks amazingWe had the goad dum biryani and the gongura chicken biryani. Both were delicious. They also have live rumali rotis. Cant wait to go back to try out other items on the

I really really wanted to like this place but unfortunately neither the food, nor service made it work. The only saving grace for the 1 star is perhaps the decor and ample parking. So we drove 37 miles due to the reviews claiming authentic indian flavors and great food... I'm guessing now are probably either paid reviews or family and friends. We were seated and then given some menus, after which our order was taken. Fairly easy process...Notice on the menu: (18% gratuity added to bill to any party of 4 or more). Now normally I don't like the instant gratuity charge because it gives the wait staff 0 reason to try and be outstanding in service. In this situation it was no different. Order was taken, drinks were served, food was brought partially, Then 10 minutes after the rest of the food was brought, they decide to bring the biryani and then I had to remind them that we also ordered extra rice. Never saw the wait staff again until I had to go out there to ask them to bring me a bill. The bill was digital and it came to roughly 180 dollars. Then he asks if I'd like to add a tip. I said the tip should already be added right since it says 18% on party of 4 and we were 4. He looked again and said, Oh yes its added sorry. So I ended up paying about 34 dollar tip for what was unbelievably mediocre wait service at best. Then I ask for a reciept. 15 minutes later he returns apologizing that he forgot about us. At least he was honest. We ordered the Butter Chicken, Chicken Chettanadi, Hydrabadi Dum Biryani, Kadai Paneer, Garlic Naans, Samosas and Chicken Boti Kabob. Butter chicken: Rough dark meat no authentic flavors in the gravy at all. Chicken Chettanadi: Spicy and good gravy but again, zero flavor. Hyderabadi Dum Biryani (Their Namesake): Came with 2 legs and once again 0 authentic flavor. Kadai Paneer: Immense amout of grease and oil with yet again 0 flavor. Chicken Boti Kabob: For 16 dollars you will get 3 chicken tenders thst are dry and without any flavor. Either they messed up our order or they have no idea what chicken boti kabob is. Garlic Naans: Soft and mushy no crispiness nor any real garlic flavor and extremely small. All in all. Not worth nearly the price they charge for the basic quality of food they offer. The prices are ridiculously high for this quality of food. Far better Indian food options in Anaheim and Los Angeles for the same or less. Overall I give this place a 1 star and definitely will not be returning.
Try Haleem while available. Biryani and 65 are my go to regular items.

I have tried Charminar twice now. Most of the items I have tried have been excellent. Their stand out item is their biryani. I have tried both the chicken and goat and both were excellent. The butter chicken and chicken 65 are also very good although the chicken 65 was pretty spicy. I also ordered the haleem which was not good, I would skip it. On the weekend they have a person making fresh tea in clay pots, which was excellent. This place is definitely worth checking out.
