Prices rose and they renamed a breakfast burrito to “french breakfast wrap”? What’s french about a burrito served with salsa? Pastries are good when they give you free extras. Otherwise overpriced and you can get better elsewhere
*** Newport Beach Location
I recently visited the new Newport Beach location and was disappointed.
Service: The cashier, a young woman with blue streaks in her hair, was rude and condescending, with behavior toward my guest that felt discriminatory. It was embarrassing and unacceptable.
Environment: The seating area felt uncomfortable due to disruptive individuals nearby, making it hard to enjoy our time.
Food: The food was excellent as always, but poor service and an unwelcoming atmosphere overshadowed it.
I hope management addresses these issues promptly.

I asked the worker if they had Frappuccino’s or a blend coffee and she told me this wasn’t a Starbucks. Which I thought was a very rude response. I’ve been to many different ethnic and cultural places that will do different coffee styles like a Frappuccino. I didn’t think this was a wrong question to ask, if anything her reply was very inappropriate. She has greenish blue hair. I didn’t catch her name. Afterward I asked her if she had lactose milk and she said “this is a European cafe we have regular milk or half and half”. I felt like she could’ve responded in a way that didn’t make me feel belittled. This was my first time going there was I supposed to know it was a French cafe and I’m not sure why it mattered. What was she trying to imply? The bakery is good, they have good options for eating the atmosphere is awful there’s a lot of drug addicts walking around and the community there is incredibly racist. I had three separate people approach me to say racial slurs as I was sitting outside with a friend minding my own business. I don’t recommend coming here the location is bad and the service was not good. I can’t believe this type of stuff is still happening in 2024.

Delicious. But, be prepared to shell out for the baked goods. A small chocolate cake ($11), orange juice ($7), Custard croissant ($5.75) and juice box ($2), came to $26.

I love their pastry? probably one of my top 5 go to place for pastry. However, their coffee is an epic fail. Bring your own coffee bad.
Staffs are friendly and my grandkids get free treat often but their tables don’t get clear pronto. Even like weekday low traffic time.
The birds in the area are so used to fearing on left over we witness birds stealing potato from customers plate while he was eating it.
They don’t have inside seating so you pay at the order. I don’t usually tip when I don’t dine-in. It’s a bakery shop and I don’t see the reason tipping for bagging a loaf of bread.
Kid-friendliness: They are really friendly

Excellent food, the breakfast quiche and any of the pastries we tried were fantastic. Prices are perhaps a little high. The usual perils of outdoor seating.

We first found this bakery in San Clemente and then discovered the location here. I stick with the baked goods and they are all delicious. The croissants are so flaky and the cinammon twists are spectacular. The almond croissant is also a favorite. So glad to have this bakery in our area. In my opinion, it definitely stands out as one of the best around.

We came here for breakfast, specifically to try the Almond Custard Chocolate Croissant, and it was fantastic! The staff were so kind; they even treated us to some extra goodies and a complimentary French bread. It made our morning even better!

My MIL and I drove up from SD to go shopping with my daughter nearby. After reading reviews, I wanted to stop in for lunch. We bought 4 pastries. The apricot tarts were amazing; best I’ve had. My MIL agreed. Croissant was buttery and perfectly flaky. My husband loved the monkey bread we saved him. Matcha latte wasn’t too sweet. The french onion soup wasn’t bitter or too salty, but sweet and very cheesy. When our server Hazel found out it was our first time visiting, she gave us a complimentary baguette. I was skeptical, but once toasted, it was crisp outside and tender inside. Hazel’s service and attitude was the best I’ve experienced in the food industry in years! Which says even more considering her age. Youth nowadays do not have the eagerness to please guests or manners that those in customer service used to practice. She was very pleasant, helpful and patient with all of us. The only downside to this business would be the location. Dining is near a busy parking lot and not very quiet or private. A delivery truck parked right in front of our table for a few minutes. Considering it was a late Tuesday morning, it was very busy. Which also says a lot. The weather was quite nice and seating outside was comfortable considering we had plenty of elbow room and shade umbrellas. Pricing was fair, service was very quick. I would love to visit again, as we all loved the pastries and can’t wait to try some more.
