This is a great halal Afghani food option in the south Orange County, CA area.
There is one go to dish that I usually get.
It's the Boneless chicken with beef koobideh combo. The meat is tender and juicy and delicious.
For a little extra you can substitute with half rice
and half salad, rather than get a plate full of rice.
I also usually get the sheer chai tea. It's sweet with a nice cardamom flavor.
My three other options that I sometimes get are:
1. Beef and chicken koobideh combo with half rice and half salad.
2. Boneless chicken kabob with half rice and half salad.
3. Beef shish kabob with half rice and half salad.
Bonus:
Lighting in here is amazing.
Restrooms are really clean!
Would love some paper towels in there though instead of just an air blower.

“The food used to be authentically Afghan, but since the ownership changed to a Pakistani owner, it hasn’t been the same. The dishes no longer taste like traditional Afghan cuisine — some items look undercooked and the flavors just aren’t as good as they used to be.”
Beef chapli Kabop or Kebap my favorite ..very distinct and original flavor …
Not a Persian like or Turkish nor Indian like flavor … but can say that a very rich in flavors…
I ordered catering for a group of students and they all liked it .. it comes with rice and green and red chutney and best combination with Must-O- hiyar … or ( cacik )
Good opportunity to charge myself with some healthy food while charging my EV just at the front of restaurant … it is a Tesla Super Charger site …

Chili Chutney was absolutely incredible! From the moment I walked in, the place had such a cool and vibrant atmosphere — the colorful lighting and modern decor gave it a lively, upscale vibe that stood out right away. The restaurant was clean, spacious, and packed with people enjoying their meals, which is always a good sign.
I tried several dishes, including their freshly made flatbread, salad, mantu, and kabuli pulao, and everything was packed with flavor. You could tell the ingredients were fresh, and the food was cooked with care. The presentation was great too — every dish came out hot and looked appetizing.
The staff were attentive and friendly, making sure everything was on point throughout the meal. It’s clear this place takes pride in both their food and service. Whether you’re coming for a casual dinner or a nice night out, Chili Chutney is worth it. Easily one of the best Afghan restaurants I’ve been to — five stars all the way.

I’ll be 100% honest. Nothing compares to your moms delicious Afghan food. But dang, this spot is REALLY good. I found this to be much better than the famous De Afghanan in Fremont. The Chapli was delicious. The Bolani was a little thick, just ask for it to be crispy.
The service was slow, but that’s because they were understaffed. But as much as I hate eating Afghan food outside, this was definitely memorable. Highly recommend.

The vibe is cozy and unpretentious, with quick and friendly service. The owners are often seen interacting with guests, adding a personal touch to the experience. the pricing is reasonable for the quality and authenticity of the food.
It was great experience seriously. The chili's heat is balanced by a subtle sweetness and a hint of vinegar, making it versatile enough to complement a wide range of Afghan dishes, from rice to lamb.
This is a revised review based on announcement I read in June 2025 that this restaurant was ordered closed for cockroach infestation for a number of days.
I will not ever go to this restaurant again as a result! I will not trust a restaurant that gets cited by public health officials.
There's such a thing as over-improvement and over the top interior decoration, including too many white and black wall and ceiling panels. But the food is still good.

Kabuli Pulao: This signature dish was a standout. The perfectly cooked basmati rice, infused with saffron and topped with sweet carrots, raisins, and tender lamb, was a beautiful balance of sweet and savory.
