Something has gone terribly wrong. I ordered bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup), extra spicy. I received a bowl of noodles and fat. There was no beef in my beef noodle soup, and the broth was nearly entirely oily fat. Usually bun bo hue is very flavorful and one of my favorite dishes, but this was just melted fat with hardly anything else. I have no idea what went wrong, but this was disgusting. And of course, it wasn't spicy at all, totally plain. I tried to salvage this with extra spice, but it was just too revolting. It went in the trash.

It’s good.
The Vietnamese food at Thanh Binh 2 is reasonably priced, diverse, and delicious.
Unlike other places, the portion sizes come in three options: S, M, and L, which is great.
However, it was a bit uncomfortable when they brought the card machine directly to the table for payment, including tipping.
On the positive side, they provided ample napkins on the table.

First and foremost... this place was near packed both times we've eaten there. And that was TWICE in two days! YES... this place is THAT GOOD! Now for my review of the food. As for the pho, the broth was delicious. NOT just salty; like many other places I've tried. And just the right hint of lemongrass (not overpowering). I tried the 2 item BUN today. Grilled pork and egg rolls. With a side of oxtail. Let me start with the grilled pork. It was not overcook (still tender). And I think the egg rolls had vermacelli and meat in it (VS. Just vegetables). It tasted more like a Korean man-doo. Now for the oxtail! I almost DON'T want to let you all know how dang good it is. I'm gonna leave it at that! I'm guessing this place is a family run establishment. The service is first class. The prices? You must come see for yourself. And the portions?Again, come see for yourself! My family and I have decided to try to dine here at LEAST once a week. Again, "YES, THIS PLACE IS THAT GOOD".....????? + ?????

I am a regular customer here. But now I feel betrayed.Yesterday (5/19) I also went away with my wife and kid.I ordered this and the price was $59.5.1 noodle small1 noodle large1 fried rice1 egg rollLater, I looked at my card payment history and saw that $76.46 had been paid.It seems like the server or the owner overcharged. If you see this post, please correct the payment details properly.

Overall a three star. The pho was filled with MSG, and the egg rolls had basically no meat. The beef chicken noodle bowl was good, but not worth the price. Customer service was okay… the waiters were really rushing the customers. The water also smells.

One of the best tasting Pho spots. The broth has that excellent flavor that most other restaurants miss.

This is the most regretful review I've written. My wife and I had been eating at this restaurant since the mid 1990s and during the 30 years we lived in Ca. it was our favorite Vietnamese place. The old menu was full of great combinations. My favorite was the charbroiled pork, shredded pork, meat cake, and rice combo. The nước chấm sauce was always flavorful. The chả giò were fresh, crisp, and flaky and were served with a pile of lettuce, jalapeño, sprouts, fennel, and mint. So, when we came back to Ca. after two years on the East Coast, we were really looking forward to visiting Thanh Binh again.Something had gone wrong during the last two or three years. The menu is now reduced from what it used to be. The rice combinations no longer include shredded pork or meat cake. In the combination that was available, charbroiled pork and shrimp, both the pork and the shrimp were dry and tasteless. The nước chấm sauce was watery and over salted. The chả giò were almost inedible, and served with only a couple of lettuce leaves, mint, and shredded carrots. The reason this is three stars instead of two or one is because the chicken curry stew that my wife ordered is delicious. The service was friendly and efficient as always, but somehow the people cooking the food have lost interest in making it tasty and memorable. We'll always remember the many very good meals we've eaten here over the years but, this is not the same restaurant anymore and we won't be back.
