After an afternoon of hiking in Marin, my youngest daughter was enraged, so I decided to calm her down with coffee and pastries. It worked. We stumbled onto Emporio Rulli and I really wanted to love this place but something felt off. The food was very good and the service was stellar but the store was so empty that it felt strange to be virtually the only people there. Eventually, a few others stopped in but with the amount of pastries and cakes prepared, it appeared they were all ready for business and the customers didn’t come in that day.I look forward to coming back sometime soon as places like this really need local support. Delightful European style cafe. Very elegant and yet, low-key. Ideal for a spring or warm summer morning. The coffee is excellent and the pasties, are an experience! I had a scrumptious pecan and pistachio torte and it was very gratifying for rest of the day. I want to go back and try more. This place is a gem. Larkspur is fortunate to have Emporio Rulli.

While it's a bit bougie / faux-fancy for my tastes, $7.00 for a coffee and croissant isn't the worst and pretty on-par for a main street Cafe in the North Bay. (Croissant fluffy and buttery w/ lemon notes). They do have a large selection of pastries, cakes, and small sandwich bites baked fresh, and the small coffee was a generous, tasty pour. Can snack, have a meal, or just get coffee and get to work here. Plentiful indoor and outdoor seating with solid people watching potential on a busy street. However, I simply do not need classical piano music and fake chandeliers while I kill time looking at funny cat videos and reading baseball news.

I ordered a Brazilian cake for pick up.. I drove over 35 min to pick it up, came in a nice wrapped paper, regular size (6 to 8 people )To my surprise it was so much smaller than the ones that in display for the same price. Cakes are so good but they let me down. Word of advixe: don't leave the bakery before checking your product

Very disrespectful and rude barrista ( the bald guy ). Obviously insecure and unhappy about his life and pours it out on people, who live in this neighborhood.Super nice and welcoming lady barrista. She saves the spirit of this place and true authentic Italian feel ( I am Italian myself).

Service, almost every encounter the servers here are friendly, polite and trying to move quickly while working in an antiquated dirty environment. The shop itself has attractive features in the wood carving, glass displays and art work but it is in dire need of a good cleaning, both in the cafe seating area and the back area. The ambiance is sad, almost a feeling of giving up. While the views of the sidewalk traffic and chance to sit quietly and relax are on a weekend are so fantastic it is sobered by the lack of any investment into improving the cleanliness, aesthetics and overall age of the cafe bakery. Food and baked items are delicious but at times void of distinctive flavors, your cookie may taste the same as your apricot twist. Beverages are blank- You don't ask for a second cup. As you view over the counter you lose question your choices because the back area is in pretty bad need of attention. This place has so much potential, in a perfect spot and yet it's very much a place stuck in time and some dust. Yes, I'll go there with a friend hoping it gets rescued. It's Larkspur after all. Your only other choice is Equator which has a smelly dirty and uncomfortable interior.

The coffee drinks are great...beautiful foamy presentation, yummy, and perfect temperature. The pastries and cookies are to die for. The service is very prompt and friendly. Ambiance has a very boutiquey feel. There's a large parking lot nearby or can do street parking. Very safe area. I'm from San Jose but, I love coming here.

Such a treasure! You see Gary Rulli with sleeves rolled up in Larkspur most days! Hand on, protecting his name, and we’re the beneficiaries! Nothing else like it in the Bay Area.

Recently bought their pistachio raspberry tort. It was a big hit! Little fruit tarts were good breakfast fare as well.
