I just came here at 2:30 on a Saturday, and they were closed. On a Super hot day- bummed they aren’t open.
Last time we came they were closed and sold out. It’s so odd and unprofessional. Get it together. I loved Frankie and Jo’s in Seattle.
I can’t believe I didn’t discover Frankie & Jo’s earlier. Their California Cabin flavor is on point. Waffle cones are fantastic as well. Don’t skip this place!
I think there are maybe 3 vegan places that serve ice cream in the whole of bay area, and this only one in Marin. It was a warm day and wanted to try this place on my way back to east bay. The place was cozy with plenty of seating and decent amount of parking. The lady serving there was super nice. I got a waffle cone with strawberry milk and salted pistachio scoops with sprinkles and caramel toppings. It was super delicious. Updated from previous review on 2025-08-17
This place rocks! Amazing selection of flavors, all vegan. What a treat.
Incredible ice cream!!! They have at least one flavor with no cane sugar and it is excellent. Really wish they had a few more, but honestly it’s miraculous that they had even one! And it is delicious!!
They are fully vegan and GF and the service is fast and friendly. What a dream.
Incredible GF options and also an amazing GF cone 😍
Very good for plant based but just ok in comparison with dairy ice cream, flavor choice was pretty limited. Staff is friendly. $750 for a mini scoop by the time you add in a tip. I prefer Goguette homemade ice cream in Santa Rosa.
How could you make something so horrible. Think of the children!
We absolutely love Frankie & Jo’s ice cream—ever since we first tried it in Seattle, we were hooked. When the Marin location opened in July 2023, we were so excited and have been coming regularly ever since.
But after nearly two years, it’s honestly baffling how poorly this location is managed when it comes to inventory. They’re always sold out of so many things—most frustratingly, the waffle cones. It doesn’t matter what day of the week or time of day you come, the answer is always the same: “We sold out earlier today.”
This has been a consistent issue since the shop opened, and at this point, it just feels like they don’t even try. And we’re not even talking about seasonal flavors—it’s the basics. Imagine going to a gas station and they’re constantly out of gas. That’s what this feels like.
To top it off, the staff often seems indifferent or even dismissive when you ask about missing items. For a brand that has such a loyal following and amazing product, it’s frustrating to see this kind of experience at one of their locations.
Loved and had the California Cabin last evening, Friday 4/4/25. First time ever tasting Frankie & Jo’s ice cream—and which to my surprise an extremely kind couple in the shop picked up my tab. …My dog, Thank you Trip and Amy so much for treating me to a scoop! And to the founder and her business partner, and their whole creative team for making it! It’s almost like this flavor was designed with me in mind because I love a n y t h i n g (Doug Fir tea for example) with the smell And taste of the sweet outdoors. And it lives up to its description:
“A whimsical smoked vanilla & pine ice cream with bold, delicious black pepper cardamom shortbread cookie throughout.”
But most notably, while I enjoyed the ice cream’s unique flavor and unmatched creaminess, what I love and support the most about this new ice cream maker that hit California, is it’s the brainchild of someone, Autumn Martin, along with her business partner Kari Brunson Wright, and an entire support team—who truly care. Who care about their endeavors in this world and, by extension, their ice cream product being an intentional expression for Good. And let’s go a step farther and call this company what it is: a vital partner in the ever expanding food REVOLUTION, offering delicious-tasting and humane plant-based food that often, as in this case, rival and surpass their traditional Animal-based counterparts. And In my world as a lifelong Animal, and Food Animal advocate, and compassionate-care-focused veterinary nurse— where Animal welfare and health is my ultimate calling and passion— I can’t get behind this company enough! And so, Thank you Frankie & Jo’s for giving me the opportunity to take delight in eating ice cream & the joy in knowing I am not harming other living beings and the planet while doing so.

Stumbling upon a dessert shop that has both dairy-free and gluten-free ice cream and waffle cones was the last thing I expected. Allergen conscious menu had mostly items that were safe more me. (As in there's notes for items with nuts, and an entire separate detailed list with every single ingredient in each flavor for you to read and make an informed decision!) Employee behind the counter that evening was super friendly and helpful. My partner, who does not have my food allergies, was level headed & had a mini Strawberry scoop. I went crazy and got the regular size scoop (generous portion for me) of Salted Pistachio in a cone. It was savory and sweet at the same time, wonderful creamy texture. Waffle cone was super fragrant and crunchy. Dear allergy community, give this place a try!
Their ice cream is very good, made with wholesome ingredients. I recommend the Supercookies and Cream
Ice cream is vegetarian and not you might be used to.
Also expensive.
This is all the rage in my gluten-free/dairy-free family! we always have hard time finding food shops to accommodate our allergies, let alone ice cream! we are so thankful for frankie & jo’s. The ice cream was delicious, service was lovely and the place is a bit small but is decorated and organized lovely. So many fun flavors!! :D Have a good day!
This was our favorite place in Seattle to get ice cream and I’m super excited to see them open a store in Marin!
