I thought this was an actual restaurant but it’s part of a ghost kitchen or something. I got the chicken bowl and idk if it’s just the chicken I got but it tasted old, not fresh. The veggies were also tasting some what frozen.This reminded me of something I could get from yoshinoya or something. Not what I was expecting, kind of dissatisfied and disappointed.

There was a plastic hair clip in my chicken bowl that I bit down on. I probably swallowed some plastic and might have chipped my tooth. DO NOT EAT HERE Received the owners response, thank you for getting back to me. Unfortunately this incident did happen and my wife sitting next to me was witness. Unless the driver opened up my meal and put this clip in it, it must have come from your establishment. I've had your food before many times and loved it, but would be careful as to who you have prepare it.

I have been ordering at Umami Express for a while now and it is such a life saver for busy weekdays. I am trying to lose weight and their food is so filling but guilt free - saved me from ordering unhealthy fast food. My fave so far is the chicken bowl, I add chestnuts and cucumbers. The texture is so good and the lemon garlic sauce is good as well. I did try the spicy sauce on time and it is not for me. One improvement I guess I would ask is if there is a way that the calories are stated in the website when I do my online order? I have never been in the restaurant, so I cannot tell for sure if they have it there. With my need to be more calorie conscious that will be a fantastic help. :-)

Yep, delicious and SUPER filling!! I was really hungry and ordered the protein lovers cabbage and rice bowl and couldn't finish it, although I wanted to since it was so tasty. It's just clean and fresh and exactly what I needed. I liked the spicy orange sauce and I added cucumbers and pickled onions which was a great compliment. We ordered my mom the chicken greens bowl and it looked great too, I'll try that one next time! The chili crunch oil was very spicy so take it slow if you're not a big spice fan. Love having healthy, affordable and quick take out options like this!

Pretty solid fairly priced healthy option. The bowls have quite of variety to keep it interesting and the chili crunch gives it a good little kick. Definitely will be back when I'm looking for a veggie packed meal. Not many places offer forbidden rice as a default so was excited to try!

Similar to the Hive in Marina Del Rey, you order from the kiosk right there or you can order earlier for pick up. Since it was my first time, I was actually there to try another restaurant. Had no idea about Unami Express. I was pleased to see there was a healthy option. I ordered the Chicken Protein Bowl. The ETA was 9 minutes but surprise, my order was ready within minutes prepared in the hidden mysterious kitchen in the back! I picked up my order at the windowThere is very limited seating but not crowded at all since most pick up orders. This is clean eating! Satisfied with my order and would come back too try the other bowls. Streer parking.

I was nervous to order after seeing the previous couple reviews, but my guess is the business owner really paid attention to complaints. Everything I ordered was delicious and the serving size was very generous for the cost. Will definitely be ordering from here regularly.

I'm not sure how this place had such good reviews. I had the chicken and cabbage bowl and it looked like something I could make. And my wife had the chicken bowl and it was pretty sad. There was barely any chicken in the bowls. And it was $11.45 for each bowl. Probably the worst place I've ever tried!

I ordered through grubhub and really enjoyed the bowl I got... it was the pork rice bowl, I think. I really enjoyed all the flavors (definitely suggest getting the chili oil crunch, so ling as you can tolerate a bit of spice), and am definitely adding this place to my rotation of healthier take out options! Just note that it's takeout and delivery only, so no dine in option.
I just ordered from Umami Express through Uber Eats and wow, so delicious! I got the Wagyu Beef Rice and Cabbage bowl and the portion was huge, this is coming from someone who can eat a lot. The flavors were all put together so well that it's hard to believe it's healthy but it is. This is my new go to for a delicious yet healthy meal. And I think I'll order catering from them in the future if I have any gatherings or potlucks. So happy I tried them!

Portions are crazy small.. ordered a chicken "bowl" (really just a cardboard box) that had barley any rice.. the vegetables tasted like they came out of a freezer bag..

Updated: an extra star for the very fast customer service response and suggestion on the chili oil. I'll try it again and see if it has more flavor overall. And hopefully I'll get more avocado next time!The food is okay but still too expensive for what it is. I paid $2 for avocado and got three chunks. I got a total of three pieces of water chestnut. In general, it's just kind of boring.This is a virtual kitchen (not a real restaurant) that is identical to Ben's Fast Food, just with an Asian flair. I greatly dislike all the sauces at Ben's so I wanted to try this version. Side note: I think it's weird you can't add cucumber to these bowls since Ben's offers cucumber and they are clearly using the same ingredients.Overall, it's boring. I still didn't like the sauce. I'm disappointed I barely got any avocado for $2. And they gave me bathroom paper towels instead of napkins which is just weird.
