The food was very good, but a bit on the pricey side. The inside dining area is small. You order at the front, instead of having table service. I would definitely go again. The have Elk burgers if you want to try something different.

We came from the park when it was still very warm and we stopped here to have a cola and a coffee. There was also a piece of cake that was homemade and very tasty. I recommend sitting in the garden if the weather permits it's really beautiful

I was blown away by the Basin Cafe. I can't believe it only has 4.3 stars. The servers were all so sweet, the menu was pretty extensive and what I ordered was ah-maze-ing. I got the salmon and curried veggies and rice. I was blown away, so rich and flavorful. Salmon cooked just right. It was the perfect mountain meal after a long day of hiking. The setting was really charming and lovely with the twinkle lights. If you're looking for a homemade meal with an obviously great chef, this is the spot!

Typical national park price gouging restaurant. The burgers are $25 and are very mediocre. Yes, $25 for a crummy hamburger. This place is fine if you are very, very hungry after a hike. Very slow service. None of us would ever eat here again.

I ordered an elk burger and it was enormous 🙂 the price was around $25, so it seemed steep to me at first, but once I saw how big the meat was and how much bacon they added on top, I stayed corrected - great value!
Sierra wave burrito looked really good too (I haven't tried, but saw it on another table)
They also have quite a few vegetarian options.
The service was fast too, I think we waited not more than 10 minutes.

The outdoor seating is beautiful.
The food unfortunately was very basic and overpriced for what we’ve got.
I for example, ordered avocado toast but couldn’t see much avocado on the toast..
Slightly disappointed.
I’d come back only for coffee or orange juice and rest.

We had dinner and breakfast here during our stay at the Lake View Lodge.
We received friendly service both times and the food tasted very good. They have many tasty choices on the menu and sometimes even have a special dish.
If you are around here it is definitely worth visiting this place!

Friendly and delicious breakfast. Highly recommended.
I came to this restaurant for the 1st time on 10/19/24. As the other low reviews state, the food is expensive specially when you compare it with the restaurant thats inside the Mobil gas station in Lee Vining. My party got 2 Basin burgers ($23 each), one Elk burger ($26) and one kids mac and cheese ($13). The burgers were ok and a good size, but the mac and cheese was TERRIBLE. PLEASE DONT GET THAT FOR YOUR CHILD. The mac and cheese doesn't taste like a typical mac n cheese. The sauce has a cardboard/nasty taste. When my child tried the mac n cheese he complained right away that it tasted nasty. At 1st I didn't believe him and thought he was exaggerating but then I tried some too, as well as the other people in my party and we all agreed that it tasted gross and nothing like what mac n cheese should taste like. What makes things worse is that I'm not the 1st one to complain that the mac n cheese tastes bad. The restaurants management should have taken notice and made a change to their ingredients/recipe. So I ended throwing away 13 dollars by ordering the kids size/small bowl of nasty mac n cheese. BEWARE!

I will never come back. So sad. All the reviews made it sound so good. The service was horrible, and the food was microwaved. And the old lady was so rude 😒
