Been outside the dinner since 8 am, according to the hours posted, it opens at 8. However, when you get to the actual dinner; it says 8:30am.
So we decided to wait it out, it is now 8:38am, it’s not open and lady opens the door to bring things inside and decides to leave again.
Love the food here but the hours are not updated correctly, as well as not being followed.
What a refreshing experience. Karla was amazing and very patient with me as I asked questions about the menu. The food was so authentic and I even got to watch it be prepared! What a cool spot 👍🏾 10/10 experience!
We came from Florida amd Karla was awesome. She was doing everything. Food outstanding.
It's just a one bar diner. But the food was great this morning. I had Chicken Fried steak and eggs and a sausage. Gravy was with Buttermilk. I had so much flavor it was delicious.
First off, the service here is phenomenal. The folks working were super friendly. l'd recommend getting the breakfast food or Mexican food options, they were delicious. We ordered chilaquiles rojos, chicken enchiladas, and carne asada fries and everything was cooked fresh and tasted great. I also ordered a grilled cheese with onion rings. The grilled cheese was tasty, but didn't meet the flavors in the other meals. The onion rings were a miss. They're frozen and fried and mine were somehow over and under cooked.
Even despite that, I'm giving 4 stars for everything else!
Tried the chorizo breakfast burrito and the *ham breakfast burrito*, and both were absolutely fantastic!
The chorizo burrito was packed with flavor and generously sized—easily big enough to share. It came with two types of hot sauce: a red and a green. Both were bursting with flavor, with the red sauce bringing a bit more heat. They paired perfectly with the burrito, adding just the right kick.
The ham breakfast burrito was just as impressive, loaded with eggs, cheese, hash browns, and chunky pieces of ham. The hash browns were perfectly cooked, and the melty cheese tied everything together. Again, the hot sauces worked beautifully here too.
The vibe at Godfather’s Diner is awesome—you can sip on your coffee and watch your meal being cooked fresh right in front of you. Plus, the booth seating makes it a great spot for families. Definitely planning to come back and try more from the menu!
First time. We wanted to try a local restaurant for breakfast. Saw this place many times in passing and we finally came. We ordered the Huevos Rancheros (egg, tortillas, salsa, beans) and Two Buttermilk (sausage and egg with 2 pancakes). The service is very kind. The atmosphere is a classic diner nostalgic appeal, casual, intimately small, and clean. The portions are generous and or in my opinion perfect for what you pay for. The food is your classic Southern California Mexican or American comfort food - and is cooked within view. And if you are not familiar with Southern California Mexican or American food menu items, then I encourage you to look it up on your phone to learn and just try or don’t be shy to ask the waitress. The only thing I would recommend to the restaurant owner(s) if they are interested in increasing or expanding their markets/customers - is to review the menu and 1) add photos of your most popular items and, 2) add a symbol (like *, ~, +) to each food item that is made vegan, vegetarian, heart-healthy, or gluten-free; furthermore, I would even recommend adding the calories of each food item. I know it takes a lot of work and reprinting, but it’s now common practice in many restaurants to keep up with your customers preferences; again, only if you are interested! Lastly, I don’t believe there is a bathroom, but that wouldn’t stop me from coming. Alla prossima! Hasta la próxima/Nos vemos! Until next time!
Everything was so delicious! The portions were huge and the food was worth every dime! I’m from the south and this biscuits and gravy can run toe to toe with any place down south. This restaurant is definitely small but mighty!
A small mom and pop diner, not a lot of walking space but the food is really good and the service is excellent.
Definitely a local spot to try out. The biscuits and gravy were some of the best I’ve had in San Diego. The biscuits were crispy yet soft. The gravy has a great flavors and plenty of sausage. Hashbrown were also better than expected. Eggs are eggs lol. I would be coming back to try more food! But now I know where to come for my biscuits and gravy! I hope they add chicken fried steak to their menu one day ?

I have to agree with other reviewers. The breakfast smell when you walk in is contagious ?
I ordered the huevos rancheros and it didn't disappoint. The sauce is not spicy but does have a light kick. The servers and cook are friendly. I'll definitely be back next time.
I definitely recommend this place for breakfast.
