Lovely setting and great wines

Not a fan, told I need to submit an email to taste wine. After hesitation, I was told no spam would come to my email. A week later, spam in my Email. Pushed pretty hard to sign up for a yearly membership. Soon as I declined the mood changed.

I've been going to Concannon Vineyard for the past 10 years, in fact it was the first Livermore winery I ever visited. Unfortunately, yesterday was my last and final visit.

I booked a Terrace tasting for 4 adults, a tasting I have done many times there, including 3 weeks ago. Yesterday however I brought along my 5 year old son and was told upon check-in "Sorry, no kids allowed". Which surprised me because I've been to Concannon in the past and there were kids everywhere - seated at tables, playing in the grass, etc. - it was a family place. Apparently 2 years ago they decided that kids are not allowed on weekends, which they mentioned was stated in the fine print of my reservation confirmation email - which is true - but who reads the fine print of those? Certainly not I, I've done hundreds of tastings all over California and have never seen this kind of policy. Nonetheless, I should have caught it and didn't, and that's on me. I booked several other tastings that day and none of those confirmation emails had a such a clause. Thankfully, after being coldly rejected by Concannon we went to Page Mill Winery right down the street and they seated us immediately. And Wente after that. In fact, when we were paying the bill at Wente our sommelier commented on how well behaved our son was. Yeah no kidding, we're responsible parents with good manners and raised our son right, he is a fine little gentleman.

In closing, I am disappointed and extremely frustrated by the "no kids" weekend policy and will not be visiting Concannon again. I will go to all the other Livermore wineries who don't have this ridiculous policy. Or Napa. Or Sonoma. Basically everywhere but Concannon. I've been visiting wineries for decades and these days I like to bring my son, and that's exactly what I'm going to keep doing. Concannon used to be a family place, but no longer. Out of respect, I'm still giving them 3 stars for all the good times I had there prior to my recent visit, but they will never see me again.

Beautiful space.

Great place to hang out and relax with a bottle or just tasting. My wife and I are members here. Good product and the grounds are beautiful. Reservations are needed.

10+ stars ✨
This has been a staple for our family for a long time, but two things stand out…
1- My husband was newly introduced to Concannon wines in 2017. He coveted our tasting etched glasses. He broke one in 2022. I visited the tasting room as they were closing for the day (I didn’t realize the time) and Ashley and a manager took such great care of me… figuring out which glass broke, grabbing from a box in a back room, and situating it with my shipping order.
2- My husband broke another freaking glass in 2024. I happened to be back in Livermore, stopped in the tasting room, and before I could finish the “do you remember me?” question, Ashley says, “Glass, right?” Over a year later!! She not only made our day of rosé great, she grabbed glasses so I could find the right one and got my stuff ready for shipping along with a friendly, fun attitude.

THIS. THIS is why I love certain vineyards. Concannon, you crushed it in more ways than one!!

We just canyon leave with out pickup alone, bought another 6 bottles, thanks to Crimson & Clover and the staff, so much fun.

First, let me say that the tasting we had was very good for the Livermore Valley. We actually bought one of the wines from our flight. However, my disappointment stems from not being able to try any of the Petite Syrah.

It's been over 20 years since my last visit here, and Concannon was the reason why I fell in love with Petite Syrah. Unfortunately, we were unable to sample it during our visit. Additionally, despite being asked to taste Mother Vine, which was suggested by a competing wine steward (who is a club member), we were again told no.

While the wines we tasted were enjoyable, not being able to sample the Petite Syrah was a letdown, especially given my long-standing affection for it. Overall, a mixed experience due to the restrictions on trying recommended wines.

This used to be a nice place. Its awful. They change their whole set up. Kids are not allowed. Picnic food is not allowed. I would never recommend to anybody again. What a terrible experience. Please if you are looking for a chill day at a winery go anywhere else. They think they are Napa or something.

What a beautiful property and amazing history behind the place. Christian was a great informative host as well journeyed through the wines they have to offer. If you are looking for a beautiful venue to sip wine on a nice day, this is it!
