Second time going. Have had the chicken meatballs, burrata, cucumber salad, grilled veggies, pate plate and the pommes frites (requested without garlic). All very tasty and well presented. Bread sourced from Hay Bros. bakery, best baguette in Long Beach. Be sure and order a little extra. All washed down with a couple of gin and tonics. Alder and Sage is one of the easiest, most relaxing dining spots in town. The small plates at the week-ending popups really enrich the food offerings.
The lamb chops were cooked just right.
Very very cute place, great for taking photos, but is extremely popular with very long wait times. The coffee was okay, I didn’t particularly love it. The food was alright, nothing too special.
Kind of on the pricier side, and when I initially looked at the menu, I was skeptical. But it was the best breakfast I might have ever had. My friend who was with me also said it was the best breakfast that they ever had. YUM. The outdoor seating area is nice and the service was great. veg vegan options available too
Stopped in for lunch. Sat in the cute outside patio. Cappuccino and Latte hit the spot. Shared the BTL and a side salad. Focccia bead was fluffy and light, bacon cooked perfectly. Fries were crispy outside and soft inside... perfect. Happy to stumble upon this place and will go back when in the area
This place was so cute! The food was amazing - I highly recommend The Classic with the pork sausage. The Lavender Palmer is a must! Our bill for 2 tea/coffee & 2 breakfast was $61 before tip. If Jessica is there I highly recommend sitting in her section she is 10/10.
Very good lavender Palmer drink served here
The service is excellent

Instagram reeled me into this place. I recommend a reservation if you are planning on brunching here as it was busy. The atmosphere was really nice and we enjoyed our time in the shaded patio area. I got the maple spice latte which was not overly sweet and tasty, but the star drink was the whisky Caramel latte: it was sweet smoky and salty and reminiscent of eating a bougie salted caramel from a confectionary. For food we went with the Turkish eggs and the smoked salmon tartine. The sous vide egg on top of these is perfectly jammy and I really did enjoy how the garlic beet yogurt paired with the Aleppo oil to provide a good amount of flavor to the Turkish eggs. The garlic parsley fries were fine on their own, but definitely needed the malt vinegar aioli to shine. There is a parking lot next to it but it is a very busy area , paid street parking is available. You might have to park a few blocks away but it’s worth it. Can’t wait to go back.
Kid-friendliness: There’s a little area in back that’s down a few steps where some kids were playing.
Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp leading up the side of the building to the patio.

Food was great; nutritiously tasty. Although, service could be better. The gentleman serving the food was on top of the table all the time pressuring to pay while I had my coffee, orange juice and part of my salmon toast still on the table. It’s like they want your money, but leave as soon as possible if you don’t look a certain way. It’s not customer service when you serve your customers with a pretentious attitude. If you do go, I recommend the smoked salmon tartine!

A terrific neighborhood diner offering locally sourced produce of excellent quality.
The outside patio has a fantastically relaxed feel that pairs well with their excellent food.
The menu apparently shifts with ingredient availability, but the menu has a surprising breadth given this.
I highly recommend their tartines, the pork hash, the ricotta French toast, and their tea offerings.
Definitely give it a try if you're in the area and I'll be coming back again to see how the menu shifts!
