Upon sitting down, I let the server know that I am Celiac, i.e. gluten free. While asking about specific dishes, the server kept pointing out vegetarian dishes and when I asked if they were gluten free, he would say "Yes, vegetarian." NOT what I needed. I had to clarify multiple times that I was concerned with gluten not vegetables. I ordered the mussels; when they were brought to me, they had bread in the bowl and in the broth. "Oh, sorry, sorry." was the response. My husband ordered a pasta dish that was watery and flavorless. The cocktails were the best part of the meal, but very expensive.

Great experience - service was terrific and food delicious. MaryJane, our server, did an excellent job as well as other staff we interacted with. Good job.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the Chelsea Chowder house and Bar. The tables were far apart, the noise level was low and nearly every table had a water view. The menu was extensive and the prices were reasonable. The food was made with fresh ingredients and cooked perfectly. We took advantage of the Wednesday two-for-one wine special and were quite pleased. But perhaps the most important part of the meal was the service. Ernesto and his assistant were extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I recommend the Chowder House as a totally memorable experience.

We found the food to be sub par. The Caesar salad dressing was bland and the lettuce was wilted. The copping was overly salty and the fish was overcooked. We sent the dish back, which we never do. The only positive aspect of our experience. Is that the manager spoke to us and did not charge us for the dish. We will not return.

Absolutely beautiful experience! Our dinner was wonderful! Impeccable attentive service and beautifully presented dishes. Our server Luke added a little extra magic to the experience. Knowledgeable, kind, and respectful he made our night very special. We can't wait to come back! Thank you!

I’ve stayed aboard the Queen Mary a few times but this was our first time dining at Chelsea’s Chowder House. We had reservations for right at opening at 5pm and it was just the most perfect experience. Our waiter was a gentleman named Abacuc and he was so attentive to my mom and I. My mom was interested in the lamb chops and he highly recommended them while I had the Filet. Our food came out and it was delicious (my Filet was perfectly medium rare) but the lamb was a bit over cooked to my mom’s liking but she never complains she just quietly enjoyed her meal. Abacuc was hovering a bit and saw what my mom saw and he took action! Again, we are not ones to complain about anything but he wanted it to be correct so he brought her a brand new one with all of the sides! He apologized profusely and we assured him that he was going above and beyond! We were already enjoying our experience but he just made it even better. We weren’t going to have dessert but when they showed us the menu, we had to get the crème brûlée. Much to our shock, they comp’ed it. Again, they didn’t need to but they did. He and all the staff here were absolutely wonderful and it’s Christmas Eve! We can’t wait to return!

We loved food and had the chowder, shrimp, mussels and salmon. I wish it had been a cool art deco place like the original bar, but it is original to 1967 when the ship was docked.

We were one of the first tables of the evening. We have wanted to visit the restaurant in the Queen Mary for 30+years. We finally had the chance. I was kind of disappointed. When you have 10ish entrees on the menu, the chef should be able to inform the servers what they are out of so that when a guest orders a 50something dollar plate they can inform guests that a particular dish (even a portion of the dish) is not available when they are ordering. I ordered the scallops with risotto cake and beurre blanc. After a quite some time the server came to tell me that they were unable to make the risotto cake (a huge draw to me choosing that meal). Ultimately I had 4 scallops and 5-6 asparagus stalks for over $50. It was delicious but kind of a let down. And if I'm completely honest, having to pay $8 for bread as an appetizer was a bit stingy. Most restaurants that offer bread service do so for free. I will however say the bread was fresh baked and borderline heavenly but the price tag still irked me.

We stayed on the Queen Mary overnight, so we decided to eat here. The food was very good, with my wife especially loving the clam chowder. She had the fish & chips, which was really good. I had Cioppino, which had a nice assortment of shellfish, including mussels, shrimp, clams, a crab leg with claw and a lobster tail. It's an odd complaint, but it was actually served too hot! It took quite a while to cool down to the point I could comfortably eat it. The broth could have use a bit more flavor, but the quality of the ingredients was top notch. Our biggest complaint was several lengthy delays before and after orders were taken. Our wait staff were helpful and friendly. I'm sure Saturday night is their busiest night, and it seemed like neither the waiters or the kitchen could keep up. But we enjoyed the view of the harbor as we waited. Overall, I'd come back.

Nice restaurant. Good food, but I have to comment on the bread. The extra charge bread is like undercooked doughy poppin fresh buns from frozen. Just get some decent baguettes and warm it up.

The clam chowder was good. The bread service was really good with the butter. The filet was cooked perfectly. We had great service too.

I ordered the Diver Scallops with a Risotto Cake and Mushrooms. $52. I don't mind paying for good food. This was not. The Scallops were extremely salty and cooked incorrectly. Anyone preparing Scallops should know that you should pat them dry and them sear them, at high heat, for just long enough that they get a nice crust on each side. This ensures that they do not get rubbery. These were obviously not done that way. They were salty and rubbery. Probably not patted dry. The Risotto was hard and dry. Almost like it was cooked previously and then heated up. I was unable to cut through the Mushrooms with a fork so I left them on the plate. Very disappointing meal. My wife's Clam Chowder was okay, although I don't know why they served it with croutons? This was our 3rd meal there and I don't imagine there will be a 4th.

Lovely space overlooking water and Long Beach. Partner had crab cakes, garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. Loved all. We ordered the bread which is a delicious small skillet of 4-5 hot Parker house rolls topped with butter and a little sea salt. I had the halibut—cooked perfectly with roasted potatoes and vegetables. All yummy!! Partner got a birthday cheesecake topped with berries. Everything wonderful. Also had a dry martini, red wine and another cocktail all made well. Expensive but worth it!!!

The atmoshere inside the restaurant is very pleasant, and quiet. You get a really nice view of the harbor while dining. The food was good for the price. The wine list is limited but fairly priced. We enjoyed our dinner at Chelsea's.
