The San Pedro location, unfortunately, wasn’t accepting online orders, so I made the trek to the Long Beach location. Thankfully, this location was accepting online orders, sparing me a 6 a.m. pastry pilgrimage. I scheduled a 12:45 p.m. pickup but didn’t arrive until 1:45 p.m., so I won’t fault the pastries if they weren’t piping hot.
Colossus Bakery on 2nd Street sits near some of my favorite Long Beach spots, like Holey Grail Donuts and Win-Dow. I ordered three items: a cardamom bun, kouign amann, and pecan sticky bun, eaten in that order, which also reflects my ranking.
The cardamom bun was delicious: the spice came through without overpowering the pastry. It was denser and doughier than the light, airy pastries I usually favor, but still excellent. The kouign amann was similarly dense, though each bite had a satisfying audible crispness. The pecan sticky bun lived up to its sticky reputation with plenty of nuts, though it ended up my least favorite of the three (but still very good).
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my pastries. I imagine they’d be even better fresh or warmed, and I can’t wait to work through the rest of the menu. Colossus Bakery has officially joined my elite Los Angeles/Long Beach pastry rotation. Highly recommended!

A regular latte for $7 is very expensive ( no matter how good it is).
The staff here is AMAZING. The coffee is perfect everytime. The bread and all of the breakfast meals are incredible. They are expanding so hopefully they will have a sit down area soon. Bree and Leah and THE BEST!!!

Wow!!!..I need a saw to cut through the almond croissant and the pecan roll...the chocolate croissant was ok...i was so embarrassed!!
They’re expensive because the tip used to be included in the price. I enjoyed that aspect since tipping expectations have gotten out of control everywhere else. But recently, they added a tip screen ON TOP OF the already high prices, and they also removed the sign that said tips were pre-built into the price.
They did not replace it with any signs explaining why this change. Now it just seems like a money grab, when money is already tight enough as it is for everyone.

Fantastic seasonal scone (strawberry guava) and friendly, fast service. Definitely recommend!!
I'm not giving a general review, just sharing my own experience. I don't intend to intentionally harm anyone's business. I don't go anywhere else except Gusto Bread on Sundays because it's both high-quality and close to my house, but I saw this place on my way to my barber appointment on 2nd Street and decided to stop by. I ordered almond croissant and garlic herb cheese. When I opened the packages at home, I realized they were plain croissant. I was a little annoyed, but I was too far away to go back, so I ate them. Even when I picked up the other item, I realized it was either too dry or stale. It was very hard and lacked flavor. As I said, it is not easy to maintain the same quality every minute, this is just my experience and it is a place I will probably never go to again.

love this place and it’s been a go for amazing baked goods and delicious bread. But I have to comment about the extortion for a cup of coffee. I previously was willing to pay it because they said prices were reflective of a living wage for their workers and the tip is also included. But now all of a sudden the tip screen is back. How much are you expecting us to pay for a cup of coffee and a baked good and also tip? Also please bring the seating back.

Love the people and food sold here are unsurpassed. When they opened there was a sign that explained the pricing reflected and living wage and that the tip was built in to the menu prices. (Most expensive spot for a cap and munchie) then one day a tip line appeared at check out. What?!? I thought it was part of the high price?? Needless to say not tipping puts me in an awkward situation - If I don’t tip is it because I don’t appreciate their cheerful competence? If I add it in now I’m at $16 for a coffee and roll…. I just go someplace else farther but also good (price/budget issues) thanks for letting me vent

Best breakfast sandwich ever. Get the sweet potato hot sauce- it’s worth it!
Chai Latte and Midsommar Latte are amazing. Shout out to Kyle and the rest of the staff who are always very pleasant to chat with.
I needed to kill some time before my nail appointment, and I stumbled upon this bakery. I didn't get a chance to try a coffee (gave it up for Lent 😩), but i did try the iced tea/lemonade. The name escapes me but it was really good! The breakfast sandwiches were sold out, so get there early if you wanna try them. I had the egg in a basket....the bread was so good! I'm definitely coming back again. No seating! Grab & Go!
The breakfast sandwich with mushrooms is one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth. The oat milk latte was heaven.
