Dave's Burgers is a hidden gem, tucked away in the corner of the Union gas station at the corner of Wardlow and Long Beach Blvd. The kitchen is a tiny outbuilding, and the dining area is a couple of picnic tables with umbrellas. Every burger and hot dog is cooked to order fresh and right in front of you. Real grilled onions, delicious fries. Nostalgia you can savor.
An icon of the area this is a classic California style road stand. Dave is long gone but the shack still exists in the corner of the gas station.
Both the food and service were good but not spectacular. If you want to spend $12 for a cheeseburger and fries you could go down the street to Polly’s or to the Bake an’ Broil and get a slice of pie thrown in too. But if you’re looking for the experience and don’t mind sitting outside amongst the fuel pumps...
