I will be surprised if this restaurant lasts another 6 months. It took 1 hour and 20 minutes to get our food. Their reasoning was they had a real large party to serve. But they had very few other customers. If the restaurant had been full they would have been serving just as many if not more people. For our wait they did bring us free fries. We specifically came to try the burgers for Long Beach Burger week. The waitress had no idea what their specialty burgers were; we had to show her the pictures from the online website. And there was a banner advertising Burger Week on the window. When our food did arrive the avacado ranch burger didn't have any avacado. The avacado had gone bad the waitress told us. My Cheesy BBQ Burger was excellent. We had tater tots and mac and cheese. 2 things you shouldn't be able to mess up. The tater tots were way over cooked and the mac and cheese was bland it needed some seasoning. They were all out of sodas except the diet coke. Lucky for me I only drink diet coke. Their excuse was yesterday was a very busy day. I have never run a restaurant but my observation is that who ever is in charge needs some training. If they ran out of basic ingredients yesterday someone should have visited a store before the restaurant opened today. And they need to get more than one cook. The brisket on my bbq burger and the free fries were very good. Will I return? I'm going to wait and see if they stay open for awhile, then I might return.

You know how you walk into a room and you feel like you are interrupting? It was odd. There are only 4 or 5 tables inside and two were taken up by employees. Granted one was squeezing or slicing lemons. But, I felt forced onto the patio to be out of the way. So, my Dad ordered pastrami and they were out. My sister ordered a smothered pork chop. When it arrived it was bare. Our waiter said they ran out of gravy. Our brisket sandwiches arrived on sliced white bread for some reason instead of the rolls they are pictured on. The staff looked like they were wearing pajamas. I'm a flip flop crazy casual person. But biker shorts and cut off sweats just look unprofessional. The brisket was good. My dad liked the pulled pork he ended up with. Our waiter was friendly and had a good personality.

I found this place thru OTM bc of their sliders. They were so soggy and the meat was thrown all over the place but I decided to come back bc the waiters were cool. I wanted to hear the live music too. (Were both reasons good enough to come back?) Yeahhh wasn't impressed with the flavor. I think I was expecting more interesting spices or something. It was just sweet for me. Buuuut I got the ribs and of course, they were soooo tender and fell off the bone. Sides were good. ‍

We the sampler platter with fired pickles, fried green beens, sidewinder fries, a small BBQ meat. It was all delicious and could have been a meal in itself! However we still ordered two meals. Half BBQ chicken with coleslaw and Mac and cheese, and brisket of beaf with grilled green beans. We attempted to finish but could not. Definitely finger linking good Texas style BBQ. To top it off, a bamd plays om the weekend with tables and chairs out side to enjoy and dance. It was dinner and dance. A pleasant surprise and we are going back to try other food items!

Phone a take out noon ordered. Steak and eggs for myself and Ruben Sandwich for my wife. Originally wanted brisket or pulled pork but they said they were out since it's popular. I arrived on time and the place has only one customer. While paying I noticed that my order was wrong, Instead of Ruben, it was sausage on the receipt. I asked about it and the waitress said they'll fix the order but I have to wait. I waited about 30-35mins for the complete order. They offered me for compensation for the trouble before I leave but I didn't take it hoping it's just a random miscommunication and I'm sure I'll be back to support the local LB businesses. I arrived home and immediately handed the bag of food to my hungry wife who is caring for our kids since I'm been out to pickup the food for almost an hour now. The verdict. My wife told me that the Ruben Sandwich was just ok. The meat is flavorless and probably over power by the slaw packed into the sandwich. The bread was good. She said that she had to pour the bbq sauce to the sandwich just to make it edible. I tasted it and it was ok. It's definitely forgettable. Steak and eggs was sub par. First, I ordered scrabled eggs and i got Sunnyside up. I don't order Sunnyside much because its harder to make than it seems. I got a rubbery yolk not runny. The order came with tater totes and it was worst than frozen store bought. I bake tater totes for my toddler and tasted so much that I know when it's not the best. It also came with a bread roll that was taste great actually but then again I'm sure they didn't make the roll themselves. The one star in my review was for the steak.... it was good maybe 6/10. It was tender, although they did ask me I wanted it cooked. The bbq sauce was on the sour side also. The packaging: I have to mention this as it was pretty good. Good thick paper bag and recryble food containers. Conclusion: would I come back because I want to really taste the brisket? No, I think I rather take a chance and spend my money on another restaurant. I'm not sure how this restaurant got four stars.

Food is really good and the service is great. So looking forward to going there again. Need to work my way through that amazing menu.

The food here is always great, the fries are the best I've had in a long time, the salmon salad was absolutely divine and everything else we've tried so far has been cooked to perfection.

Derricks catered our family gathering and everything was perfect! The staff was responsive, helpful and flexible in what we wanted and needed for the party. The food arrived on time, was nicely packed and delicious. We ordered chicken, pulled pork, tri tip, brisket, pork ribs, Mac n cheese, coleslaw and bourbon glazed carrots. They provided a bunch of sauces that varied in spice level which was great for everyone's taste. Everyone at the party loved every bite. They overdelivered and we definitely had leftovers as a bonus. Other things to note...I'm not a coleslaw person but Derricks is really good. Also our toddler LOVED the carrots!

Start at the beginning: Tents take up half the parking, but there are no tables in the tents, so we had to park on the street. We go in, are told we CANNOT eat inside, only on the patio. The yelp listing clearly says they are open for dining room again, but the one person working the front says no! Patio only. So, the lack of any aroma of smoke or bbq should have told us something. Where did the 5 star reviews really come from??? The ribs were tough and fatty. The brisket was fair. But none of it is good smoky bbq as we were expecting. Ranch beans tasteless, mac and cheese grainy. So, to get mediocre food and a side of attitude from the server, why would we go back? We'll keep searching for good southern bbq.
