Got a wet shrimp works burrito to go. I cut it open and it smelled wretched. I thought they had served me rotten shrimp. Turns out it was broccoli! The burrito was filled with not just broccoli but also carrots, mushrooms and corn in addition to the shrimp and rice. It was vile and inedible. I double-checked the menu and these ingredients are not listed. Gobsmacked that they served this to me.

El Sauz is one of my go-to spots in Long Beach for Mexican food. I order delivery and takeout here all the time, and it never disappoints. My favorite is the Birria 3 Taco Special—always flavorful and satisfying. The shrimp tacos are another hit, and the horchata is absolutely sublime.
Whether I’m grabbing food at the benches after a night out in LBC or getting it delivered through DoorDash, it’s always tasty and reliable. During the day, dining in is also a treat—the pozole is superb. Consistently great food and dependable quality make this one of my favorite spots in the area.

Good food and service
This place NEVER disappoints. It's open late and the food and Horchata is delicious. One of my favorite spots anytime of the day. If you're looking for a after hours spot to get some grub and love Mexican food, look no further. The price is right too.

I got 7 tacos, 1 arozz con leche, and 1 horchata and the total came out to around 35 dollars which is a good price to food ratio. However the horchata and arroz con leche was a little disappointing as it had a slight sour taste. The buche and suadero tacos were yummy.

I could die happy choking on their lengua tacos. Texture was firm but soft from slow cooking all day. Flavor was rich even before salsa. Água Fresca de Pina was perfect sweetness, no overly artificial taste. Came in a Huge glass beer mug. Michelle gave exemplary service. Jaws was playing on one TV and the Spain Portugal game on another.
Chips were ok.

Carne asada and carnitas tacos were both delicious. The grilled onions are fantastic, too.
Late night taco run yummy yummy
We were looking for great Birria tacos so. I looked online for the best Tacos in Long Beach. El Sauz restaurant on Anaheim came up and we ordered two plates containing 3 Birria tacos with the trimmings on the side. Took it home and the first thing I did was taste the meat……Delicious!!!! Moist and flavorful, then I added the cilantro and onions, dipping it into the consume, now I was in Heaven!!! We will definitely be back as the waitress told me when I arrived” You won’t be disappointed “ which we weren’t.
