Today my Family and I visit Famous Dave's in Long Beach Ca. we've eating here many times, since 2015. On today's Lunch, the chicken (roast and bbq) were excellent, however the ribs had almost no meat on the bone, the brisket was too stiff/rough (I wish my little son would've mention something earlier) after talking to our waitress (Pita) she talked to her Manager (Dean) and all He said was, quote: "that's the way the ribs and brisket are here", Dean never came to our table, at that time the whole restaurant had a total of 6 customers (2 tables) . We never had any issues with the service nor the food before, for the money that I expend when dining at Famous Dave's I'm expecting good to excellent food and professional service at all times. Our waitress Pita did a good job but the kitchen and specially the Manager Dean failed big time, and because of that, I'll be taking my Family somewhere else.

Restaurant seemed intriguing. But both nights both entry doors were locked including on a Friday night. Do not know when and if they will ever be open and smoking again.

Good food. Good drinks. We finished everything we ordered. The staff was helpful. The burnt ends and ribs were good. Definitely would come back.

I only gave this place 1 star because I can't give them anything lower. The worst place we have ever been to eat. My friends and I have our weekly dinner and decide to give this place a try since we were at the Long Beach Grand Prix. First of all. It was about 100 degrees and the restaurant was like a dungeon. It was so hot inside. We actually had to use the menu to fan ourselves. The waitress came and starting to take our drink orders. This is where it started to get bad. We order a mojito, she said that they were our of mint to make the drink, which we were ok with to order another drink. We then ordered the onion straws as an appetizer, she told us they didn't have that either. At this point we asked her what items did they not have so that we can decide if we wanted to continue to eat here. She said they had everything else. Ok so we ordered the nachos, surprise surprise, they don't have that either. By this time we were pretty much over it but decide to stay since we were hungry. We ended up with the burnt ends and catfish as an appetizer which we only really enjoyed the catfish. We then ordered our meal. I ordered the 2 meat combo with the rib tip and brisket and corn with coleslaw. Another person also ordered corn as one of their side. Well our waitress comes back after awhile and tells us that they are out of corn. WTH. We again asked her what else are they out of. She said that was it. Fine I replaced my corn with Mac and cheese and my friend replaced their with beans. You would think that was the end of the issue right? WRONG! She comes out a bit later and tells me that they are out of coleslaw. At this point, I was not happy and neither were my friends. I ended up changing for their fruit salad. My friends asked her what was going on and where was the manager. She gave them a look and walked away. Well maybe 5 minutes later, I'm assuming it was a supervising or manger,, came up and said that they just sold their last fruit salad. WTF!! How can you run out of so much food, about a 3rd of your menu items on a busy weekend with the Long Beach Grand Prix town. We finally got our food and my rib tops were so dry and hard and the briskets were all fat. Whatever, I was over everything. She brings us our check and low abbd behold, they didn't charge us the happy hour pricing for the drinks and appetizer. We ordered our food at 6 pm which was still happy hour. So one friend took the check and the happy hour menu and told her that. She tells him that it's only the bar area. He make it known that it does not state that on the happy hour menu and that it was given go us at our table. Well the waitress brings back the menu and said that the manager went ahead and took the discount but that it does state that happy hour is at the bar only, which as you can see it does not. HERE IS THE KICKER TO IT ALL!!! I decided to pay with my credit card so that er can just leave. She come back with my credit card and hands me the card first, then the receipt to sign. Not even putting on the black folder that the check was in. At this point any waiter or waitress would apologize for all the inconvenience with not having the items and walk away! NOPE NOT THIS ONE! SHE STOOD THERE WAITING AND WATCHING ME SIGN! I know what she was doing. She was waiting to see her tip. I told her that I would sign it and put it in the folder on the table. WELL I GUESS SHE DIDN'T LIKE THAT TOO MUCH BECAUSE HE TONE COMPLETELY CHANGE AND SHE SAID "IT'S NOT MY FAULT THAT THE RESTAURANT RAN OUT OF STUFF" AND STARTED TO BE HEAVY HANDED AS SHE STARTED TO CLEAR OUR TABLE! That was the most unprofessional thing I have seen an waiter/waitress do at a restaurant. I do eat out often and have never had someone wait to see what their tip is going to be and get mad when I wouldn't fill it out in front of them. Never again will we be coming here. So unprofessional of how everything was handle. I'm not even sure if the manager knew what happened as they never came to talk to us or acknowledge the issue.

Let me present to you - their "loaded" baked potato. Twice now I tried to order this and they don't deliver any of the stuff to make it "loaded" - even when you ask politely in the notes section as a reminder. Thanks guys love the attention to detail

The food and service are great, but on the expensive side. A great treat for special occasions. I recommend the St.Louis ribs!

Great old American BBQ house that serve a variety of BBQ ribs, brisket, chicken, hot links... etc. The staff are friendly and professional. We ordered the Pitmaster Full Smoke Family-style BBQ and it was enough to fee a family of 6 adults. Our favorite BBQ sauces are the Spicy and Original style.

BBQ was pretty good. Not like Texas BBQ but it was decent. Highly recommend the Pit Master Full Smoke Plate for a family of 4-5. Four of us shared this and still brought food home.

Wow I can't say enough good things about this place! We were in town for vacation and stopped in because the Chili's next door was backed up. Our server June was one of the most genuine people and the best server we've ever met, so personable, friendly, and helpful that we were just blown away, they even talked to us and got to know us for a bit before we left! We were seated right away and food came out extremely quickly and was some of the best BBQ out there, especially for the price. I wish this place was closer to us but if we are ever back in the area there is no question that we will be back in a heartbeat! If you are considering going here, definitely do it!

Great spot for BBQ. Isn't quite the "falling off the bone" type of experience I had in Texas but close enough. The ribs were chewy and could've been BBQ'd for a few more hours because it barely seperated from the bone. The sides were great, especially the beans. Our server kept forgetting to bring the things we'd ask for but she was sweet & working hard. So kudos for effort!

The dry rub wings were good. The bbq ribs were ok, the brisket was terrible. The server said the Mac n cheese was fresh. It was horribly flavored mush.Their house mai tai was good, I just wish I could have ordered a second one.

We went to Long Beach on a beautiful Sunday and the only parking we could find was a 2 hour maximum. All the other restaurants had a 1 hour plus waiting time. However the Smokehouse said just come straight in -- there's no waiting time. The food was barely edible, they messed up one order so the poor member of our group had to wait, and the food was incredibly expensive. To add insult to injury they automatically added 18% gratuity, and invited us to add more. Our party was only 6 persons. We did not complain because we were treating a grandson who was in Long Beach for a chefs' competition in the Conference Center. It was the first time some of the family had seen him for several years. Unfortunately he was the one whose meal they screwed up. He would have been very upset if I had raised a fuss. Next month we have guests visiting us from the UK. We will be bringing them to Long Beach but certainly not to the Smakehouse.
