Gemmae's has always been our go-to when it comes to family parties. We usually order the ube cheesecake and lumpia for pickup. The flavor and quality are always consistent, so we always go back. The online ordering system is very convenient; thus, picking it up at specific times has never been a problem! They use real ube, not those powder kinds they use at boba shops. I know.. I grew up mixing ube during fiestas in Silang, Cavite. The lumpia is excellent, too! The size is bigger than the typical lumpia from other Filipino joints. The inside of Gemmae's is excellent. However, there is no indoor dining, and it's solely for pick-up. One thing to note is the parking. It's situated in a small lot and can get full quickly. But there's plenty of free parking in the street. I will keep coming back here for our orders. The customer service is excellent, and the food/dessert is fantastic!

This is the bakery of my dreams. Having grown up in the Philippines, I'd like to think I have a very discerning taste when it comes to Filipino food and always comparing the food in the U.S. to how it is made back home. Gemmae hits the mark and reminds me of home sweet home. My only regret is that I just discovered it and apparently, it has been around for 30 years! That is longevity! Like Rachel (daughter's owner) said, not too late for now I "found it". Parking - found one right in front of the store and saw street parking also Food - oven and prep area can be seen behind the front counter so you know it is super fresh I have never seen all the food from my childhood until I got to this place (can't even compare them to Goldilocks and Red Ribbon whose quality in U.S. have gradually declined imho). I ordered the following for they are my childhood favorites and they are all A+: 1. Arroz caldo - lots of chicken and the largest container can serve two people 2. Ube Cheese pandesal 3. Pandan and Ube ensaymada - ensaïmada/ensaymada is a pastry product from Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain. It is a common cuisine eaten in southwestern Europe, Latin America and the Philippines. Gemmae's version is mixed with pandan (fragrant leaves found in Asian cuisine and tastes like grassy vanilla with a hint of coconut) and ube (Filipino purple yam). 4. Ube and Macapuno ensaymada - macapuno is sweetened coconut and typically eaten as dessert in Philippines Note: The ensaymada flavors here are out of this world and can be eaten for breakfast or as a dessert (can be shared or ...not). Best if toasted as Gemmae recommended. 5. Bibingka *- moist cake baked in banana leaf 6. Puto Bumbong * - literally translates to steamed glutinous rice (puto) cooked in bamboo (bumbong). Typically accompanied with warm butter or margarine, coconut flakes and brown sugar *Filipino delicacies traditionally served during Christmas season in the Philippines 7. Biskotso - Biscocho, also spelled biskotso is Filipino twice-baked breads coated with butter and sugar Disclaimer: Most of the descriptions are thanks to Mr. Google! Back to Rachel, one can tell when you meet her how warm and gracious she is- many thanks! Her family's passion to stay true to the uniqueness of Filipino food and delicacies is fully manifested in her bake shop offerings. Is this worth a trip to Long Beach? Most definitely and make sure to stock up and freeze (as needed) until next time...

Great food and very friendly staff. I got a mango cake for my wife's birthday, and everybody loved it.

Indulging in the ube pistachio cookie at this gem of a spot is like experiencing a slice of heaven. Living in Orange County, we happily make the drive to Long Beach every weekend just to savor these delectable treats. But the delight doesn't stop there - the pork adobo and beef stew boast generous portion is an absolute standout, rivaling some of the best I've had. Trust me, this place is worth every mile of the journey.

Liked the cheese bread. That is all. That's all I am going to say about that. The rest of the products we purchased seemed old. Not coming back .

Food is delicious. Come early though they sell out quick. I really like their pork adobo.

After a long time away, I finally had the chance to revisit this delightful establishment. I was pleased to find that the place was clean and well-organized, with helpful staff at the front counter. The wide array of baked goods and desserts on display was impressive, and they even offered rice meals for those seeking something savory. All the food I purchased was delicious, with the chicken empanada being a particular standout. The crust was perfectly flaky and buttery, reminiscent of a croissant. While the ube tres leches was a bit too sweet for my personal taste, and the pandan ube ensaymada was dense, overall I was quite satisfied with my purchase. I'm looking forward to returning and trying out more of their delectable offerings.

I stopped here on my way to a show in downtown Long Beach. It was in a small shopping center and the parking is tight. There were 2 employees helping customers so I had to wait a little bit but it wasn't bad. It was the afternoon so a lot of the baked goods were not available but I got the ube pandesal with cheese, ube ensaymada, and longanisa pandesal. Unfortunately, the pandesal bread was really dry and the longanisa was chopped up so little I couldn't really taste it, it just crumbled. Maybe I didn't get it fresh enough so I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt because I liked the idea of their products. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here again though.

GEMMAE BAKE SHOP is located in a strip mall with a limited but free parking lot. There was no line to get in and no line to order. The staff were all very helpful and kind. All the breads were fresh fluffy and moist. UBE PARTY BREAD and UBE MACAPUNO PARTY BREAD were delicious. The UBE BREAD is a brioche type (calling it "type" coz it's soft as brioche but I don't really know if it is) with generous chunks and dollops of ube halaya in the midst -- think generously sprinkled with raisins, but instead of raisins, you get giant chunks of ube. The UBE MACAPUNO ENSAYMADA was delicious and is even better hen you warm it up in the microwave for about 10 seconds. Super soft, lots of butter on top. Giant portion. Same with the UBE PANDAN ENSAYMADA. Yum. The UBE OVERLOAD COOKIE was awesome. The chopped pistachio was a nice foil to the sweetness of the ube. There is no eating space - this is a grab and go type bakery.

It is a highly rated Filipino just east off the 710. Upon entering it is very clean and the staff were quite helpful. They have hot pan de sal only when the open at 6:30 until 8 am. They also have combination plates like a "point-point" style both for breakfast and for lunch or dinner, you need to call them for what dishes they are serving as it varies.. there are no tables so it it's strictly a "to-go"place. The ambience is a bake shop that has catering service. The food is top notch and the price is on the higher side but it's expected.

A coworker recommended this place so when I was in the area, I checked it out with the family... Didn't realize it wasn't a sit down type of place but they did serve pretty good Filipino food! I liked the lumpia & the turon! Yuummmm.. we were practically the only customers there at the time so the service was fast & efficient! The staff were very respectful & accommodating! Glad I got to try a new Filipino food place

We are not that far from this bakery and wanted to give it a try since it has been blowing up on line lately. We bought Pandesal but was very disappointed, it was very dry. The Enseymada was also not very soft and moist. It almost seemed like it was a few days old. Maybe it was an off day with the bakers but I will stop by again and give it another try. But for this visit I can only give it a 3 because the sweet lady behind the counter was super nice with questions I had.

Shanghai lumpia and Ube cake fantastic! We will definitely be back. Thank you for making our little celebration special.
