Chicken was pretty good! Mashed potatoes and gravy was also good and had nice flavor.
The Coconut Pineapple cake is our family fave! Never a disappointment. It's become our family favorite along with everyone that tastes the cake.
I have never been disappointed with the food and most of the service. Excellent food and good customer service. Thinking it is a reflection of your attitude if otherwise. Water and coffee never go empty and they check up on you frequently, or just enough to provide good service. Shift changes gets hectic sometimes...Thinking it is a thing of the past with so many not willing to actually work for a living. But they do manage to get and retain many good workers. And the cooks or bakers never fail to amaze me with their creations.
Came in to pick up my order in person , the older lady and man was very rude , when I asked question about my order.
This place is closed there’s a New Mexican place there that has many options but not much flavor
Oftentimes you read a great review of a restaurant and you think well maybe. Well let me tell you, all of the great reviews are true. My experience was outstanding on every level. It was highly busy on a Friday mid morning. The wait was not overly long, but well managed. The location is beautiful, and packed with a kind of elegant chaotic feel. But the food, my goodness every bit of the food was perfect, coffee was great, omelet was great, potatoes were great, but let me tell you the muffin was simply the best muffin I've ever had in my life. If you're In this area, you must go, but plan for the wait, but know, it is worth it.
Family owned and operated since 1965 Jongewaard's Bake n’ Broil is as close as it gets to “iconic” in Long Beach, many of Carol Jongewaard’s recipes even now in use across a menu featuring Comfort Food still sold at a reasonable price. Brought to Atlantic Avenue by Carol and husband Roger, their children still in charge and Restaurant staff partially unchanged for three decades, guests arriving at Bake n’ Broil begin by putting their names on a waitlist, tables available within twenty minutes for most while others whiz in and out for Pastries available at the counter. Open from 8:00am until 3:00pm daily, most of the savories unavailable until 11:00am, Coffee should be a pass for all but those willing to tolerate acrid drip while menu-advertised Skim Milk was apparently unavailable at 8:45 on a Saturday. Known primarily as a Bakery, specials joining the daily offerings based on season, it was after a quick stop in the Microwave that two Muffins and a Cinnamon Roll were delivered, each with a ball of chilled Butter that proves necessary for moistening both of the former and all but the center of a glazed spiral. Less sweet than usual across Carrot Cake as well as Pecan Pie, though in the case of the latter an inspired choice that ranks amongst the best of its kind, Quiche falls short due to insipid Crust plus a laughable side of flavorless Fruit while “Banana Walnut Pancakes” incorporate neither into the Batter and tries to sell Artificial Maple Syrup as acceptable by placing alongside a mountain of Whip.
I received poor customer service from one of the female owners!! I was yelled at because I wanted my food re maid, the server was also not helpful just a poor experience all the way around. The owner was argumentative and extremely aggressive! I should have just asked for my money back and went else where, because they were not following the covid 19 rules none of the tables were six feet apart! This was my first time going to the establishment and my last I hope all the yelling and rudeness that she did was worth losing a customer and I will be expressing this to friends and family...
