I really hate to leave negative reviews, but our experience at HiroNori in Long Beach on Saturday, May 15th around 1:30 PM was incredibly disappointing — and frankly, disheartening.
We came in as a party of 7 (4 adults, 2 teens, and 1 child), fully aware that a larger group like ours would require a bit of a wait.
As regulars at HiroNori in Long Beach, we’ve always enjoyed the food and the usually friendly service — which makes this review even more disappointing to write.
We came in on Saturday, May 15th at around 1:30 PM as a party of 7 (4 adults, 2 teens, and 1 child). We knew we’d have to wait because of our group size and were happy to do so. We waited outside for over an hour without complaint.
Eventually, as the restaurant began to empty out, I checked in with the hostess and was told that a table for 7 would be available in about 10 minutes. But when that party left, we noticed from the window that the table wasn’t being cleared. I followed up again and was told they still needed to clean it — yet we watched as staff cleaned nearly every other table except the one intended for us. At this point, we were the only group still waiting, and the restaurant was nearly empty.
What made the experience so upsetting was how the staff behaved. They looked back at us repeatedly, smirked, and moved noticeably slower — it felt intentional and mocking. I really don’t want to jump to conclusions, but the uncomfortable truth is that we were the only Black family in the restaurant, and it began to feel like we were being deliberately ignored or even racially discriminated against. That is a heartbreaking and humiliating experience to have, especially in a place we’ve supported regularly.
We finally decided to leave — not just because of the wait, but because we no longer felt welcome. Even if the table had eventually been ready, the damage had been done.
I want to be clear that in the past, we’ve had great service at HiroNori, and this review isn’t meant to discredit the kind and professional team members we’ve encountered before. Unfortunately, on this visit, under the supervision of manager Miguel Lonzaga, the handling of our situation was deeply disappointing.
We hope this feedback is taken seriously, and that future guests — especially families of color — are treated with the fairness and respect every customer deserves.
Delicious! 🍜
Absolutely amazing ramen prob the best in Long Beach in my opinion also Greta karaage
Everything was delicious even the free infused water
Yup, this place is good. Will be back.
Pricey, chill spot, great chashu.
Tonkotsu ramen was incredible, it was tasty and the pork was tender, definitely recommend it!
This is the best ramen in Long Beach 🍜
The tonkotsu ramen is delicious and the house made noodles are of the highest quality around. I’ve tried a lot of the ramen places around and none of them come close. The vegan ramen is a favorite of my plant based friends. Add egg and black garlic oil to elevate your bowl a little!
TIP! add yourself to the waitlist before going. Tonkatsu Ramen is a must, but don't sleep on the pork buns!
A good ramen restaurant.
This restaurant’s tonkotsu ramen tastes like IEK ramen in Japan.

Great find in LB
SO MANY RULES. Cashless. Back of house gets tops. Blah blah blah. The second you show up there are rules everywhere. On the check in screen, on a big sign, on the menu. Let me live! Food pretty good but the vibe is weak as it gets.
My first review I gave it 4 stars, didn’t really enjoy the ramen too much but decided to come back 2 years later. The ramen is all hype and the service is below average. The atmosphere is good but for a chain restaurant it’s just okay.
First visit and I'm super happy with my experience !!
Without a doubt, best ramen in Cali. Definitely won't find a better pork belly anywhere, perfect noodles and broth
