Stopped in after a bike ride in Long Beach. Koy met us with a smile and friendly conversation. We shared a 2 item combo with chow main. The food was tasty & the portions more than generous for the affordable price. We will be back!

Stopped in after a bike ride. Good food at an extremely afforable price. What makes this spot a 5 star review is the service. Koi (owner) is so friendly, funny and sweet! She let us sample the chicken, told us a bit about the ingredients in each dish and truly treated us (& everyone else in the spot) with kindness & grace. No wonder this place is a local gem. Definely will stop back in next time we are in the area.

I have known about this small joint for about 18 years and it's one of those places with amazing Chinese food only the locals know about. It's a family owned take out restaurant with amazing food... every entree is so delicious you won't be disappointed, and it's very cheap compared to other places. Plus add to that experience a friendly smile from the owner.

Just moved to the neighborhood, decided to try this place. I can honestly say this was the best takeout experience of my life. The food was incredible. I got beef & broccoli, spicy chicken teriyaki, and chow mein. HUGE portions of all three and all three were EXACTLY what I crave when I crave this style of Chinese food. So good! The attached pic is what was left after I already ate as much as I physically could! And it only cost 9.75!!I also got to talking with the owner a little and she couldn't have been nicer. She made me feel like a regular even though I just got here. It's cash only and if ya don't tip, you're gonna answer to me!

What a find!! This hole in the wall restaurant tucked into a strip mall just before the entrance to the 710 on 7th street (only a few blocks from the courthouse in downtown LB has classic Chinese dishes much like Panda Express. Growing up we would love to eat Chinese food like this...lots of food for crazy inexpensive amounts. A lot of Chinese restaurants follow this formula...but not many do it as well as Hong Kong Express. Coming here you can expect to get those massive portions for an almost ridiculously low price. You get your choice of lo mein, fried rice or 1/2 & 1/2. Then your choice of one, two or three entrees. Forgot to take a pic of the menu...i was too focused on the food lol...but one entree was around $7, $9 for two and $11 for three. Such a great deal! The food was very fresh. If you opt for one of the terriyaki chicken entrees they actually take it out whole and slice to order locking in the flvor and juiciness. The owner working in the front is THE nicest lady. Even though they were quite busy at lunchtime on a Monday she took the time to answer our questions thoughtfully and chat about how long the business has been there amoungst other things. We won't hesitate to go back again and again!!

The BEST Chinese food I’ve tried in LA!

Very reliable food offered for Americanized Chinese food. Similar to Panda Express Model: 8 or so different premade dishes kept somewhat warm in chafing dishes, you point to what you want and they will package it for you. I've been here 4 times now, the dishes seem to be the same (based on best sellers I would guess). Mostly chicken dishes, fried rice, veggie lo-mein, egg rolls. Be aware that towards the end of the day, they will stop making new food so they minimize the food to be thrownaway....so your choices will be more limited. Recommendation and best deal: get the 3 item plate for around $11, teriyaki grilled chicken (whole charred chicken breasts, cut up into strips fresh when ordered...which i luv), broccoli beef is good (sauce is not too starchy, and the broccoli is cooked perfectly), kung-pao chicken (what you would expect). You get either fried rice or lo-mein (or half/half). They are no different than other chinese food places that serve pre-prepared orange chicken/general tsao's chicken...unless it's just freshly made, it will get soggy/gummy as it sits on the heating trays...plus the chicken pieces are not great (bought frozen from a distributor, I think). Everything is packaged as if to-go, but you can take it and eat it on-site....they have a few tables inside. It is part of a half-empty strip mall, so plenty of parking. Cash only - closed on Wednesday. Really nice and talkative owner/front of staff, and she is really generous with the portions (the 3 item plate is more than enough for the two of us). Selection is small, but that's what they do to keep the food fresh(er) and prices low.

I've been to this place any years with my husband, this is the far best Chinese food ,I've ever had especially the spicy teriyaki. The food portion are good with cheap price for my husband and I it's $20 together with a drink and everything. The owner is very sweet. If you been here to get to know the lady long enough, her business helps her and her family hometown. I highly recommend to keep eating here to support her, the money is actually worth what you get.

The lady at this location was sweet. I hate that I didn’t like the chicken teriyaki or the mushroom chicken. It was extremely hot inside the restaurant. I did enjoy the chow mein and rice.
