Excellent baristas and groovy vibe. The vanilla latte was the right amount of bitter for my preference.

Need a ciggy and a coffee, come here. Value your lungs, avoid it. In the 21th century with the awesome values of cancer proved, why have a designated smoking section?

The manager decides to close out his drawer and transfer in a new one. Finally after 10 minutes of just waiting the nice barrister asked me if he could get me started on a beverage while I wait... That should have been the first thing to begin with while we are all waiting for this employee to count his drawer in front of everyone and not in a back office like normal business does. That being said I always try to give this establishment chances but that's my last $8 Late I order from here!

The latte was average and the price was also about average. Good milk alternatives but no gluten free option. The outside seating seems to be tables and chairs put on the sidewalk and not separated out. Parking can be difficult. The drink was made quickly but might have been due to not a lot of people being

Great vanilla iced lattes! Only 4 star because I'm not a fan of the oat milk they use but the rest was great! Price is amazing and so was there fresh bagels.

I used to go to Hot Java more several years ago. I’ve moved back to the neighborhood and have started trying to go again when I get the chance but their hours have really decreased. And the pastry case has a lot of flying insects. And it just makes me feel grossed out.

The chai tea latte was DELICIOUS!Customer service was beyond amazing. Nice little coffee shop to hang out in to read, do homework or meet up with friends. I can't wait to come back.

I have been coming to this place since it opened. Today, I almost don't recognize it from the lack of service and attention to a simple request. There's nothing worse to me than a soggy bagel. I specifically asked for my bagel to be toasted golden brown and I received a soggy bagel. Grateful I have a bagel at all, I ate it, and said nothing - why? Because the last time I made a complaint to the lady (the same one who prepared my bagel) replied with a snarky remark. If you want a bagel toasted the way you want it, I suggest going to a bagel shop. That's what I'm going to do from here forward.

hot java has one major thing going for it: the location. it's got shaded outdoor seating (although it could use more tables), it's near the beach, and it's on a pleasant corner on broadway & junipero. but otherwise, it's extremely unremarkable. the drinks are mid at best, the baristas often seem to give a "don't bother me" vibe (i don't take it personally but it is, undeniably, a bummer), and they have a very small selection of food. oddly, you also can't add sugar & cream to your own drinks. they keep it behind the counter.

Small, quaint coffee shop just a couple mins walk to the beach.

Customer service was excellent. Lovely ladies greet you and make recommendations and light conversation making you feel welcome. That deserves 5 stars on its own. However, the reason I went was for coffee and something to eat. The iced coffee was bitter, not in a good way, it tasted so bad. I ordered it with oat milk and cinnamon, I think it got left out because it tasted like watered down 3 day old coffee over ice. The jalapeño bagel was slightly warm when I took my first bite. Globs of cream cheese poured out. I had to scoop out a lot of it because it was a lot. Still seemed like a lot even after I did that. It wasn't even spread out evenly. A true mess. The rest of the bagel was ice cold. I tossed it after taking a picture of the atrocity. The ambiance was decent, lots of places to sit but the wifi was spotty as hell so careful if you want to work from here. I will absolutely not be coming back here. 7/11 coffee tastes so much better. I recommend Coffee Drunk, Rose Park Roasters, Tierra Mia, and Good Time Cafe. So sad cause it's at such a prime location.
