Service was so terrible, I left before completing my order. The older male employee was rude and discourteous.

Yeah, I would do a cool pass on J Looney's. I get disappointed when I have to give bad reviews to my folks, but they say all skin folks aren't kin folk, Facts! I ordered the gentleman's Gumbo in person, he had to check to see if he had made enough for two people because he already had to set some aside for some others that called in yesterday. Okay then I get that, must be good zero Authentic, and full of all the goodness that you find in a Gumbo. Nope, got fooled, got nothing but a Rue, which was runny, no crab, little rice, maybe two skrimps yes I said it, so I was and my associate was very disappointed. First time last time. I milds as well strike out in my own and just make the way I would like it, Damn, shame can't find good Gumbo in L.A. wtf!!

There is only one person working, there is a 2hr plus wait, before placing my order the cashier asked if I was willing to wait after telling him yes, i asked if i could order sides, he then continued to not take my order and complain to me how many orders he has today, he was very rude and yhey nerd more workers with better customer service skills

This was my first time and the food was delicious. I had the pork chops with gravy over rice, yams and greens. The pork chops was tender and the gravy was finger licking good. my sister had the gumbo and it was good. Not too spicy. Even the home made lemonade was good. I will definitely be back and bring my friends. The owner was very friendly and nice.

Go here to feel as if your in a little side shop on the streets of new Orleans, nothing fancy just how they do it in the south. Owner is great and food was a reminder of back south.

Good ole home cooking food like grandma used to make. If you are looking for the home cooked food you used to have growing up this is the place to come. Not overpriced and not over portioned for the food that you get. Also not over seasoned. This family owned place gives me the family food taste. Will be back

These mutha****** really put this sh*t on my delivery. SMMFH A Post it of them shortening me with arrogance. ............... Update Should have got the Fries cuz they probably would of had more Cheese then the Mac and Cheese.....IDKWTFTSW!!!!! Food - taste like the average to nasty church food. My fault for being lazy. Every Review more than 2 stars is fake or from people who can't cook or have no taste buds.

I'm always amazed by those who write overly critical reviews when they themselves lack even a basic proficiency in grammar, syntax, spelling, and punctuation in English . . . or in any other language for that matter. I also check out their individual Rating Distributions on this website just to confirm a suspicion about them. Inevitably, these pretentious bougies seem to be bitter with the world in general, posting overwhelmingly negative reviews. Free (as those critics expect of everyting) advice: If someplace doesn't meet your artifical royal standards, simply do not return there. Don't, however, trash hard working (Google that term, darlings) individual owners and employees of small businesses trying to earn a living providing things like art, music, or enjoyable food to those who can appreciate it without a nose-in-the-air attitude. J Looney's continues to be a diamond in the rough of authentically prepared Creole and soul food - without ATTITUDE - that obviuosly MOST people enjoy (see their overall rating). If it didn't meet your impeccable (albeit illiterate) standards, maybe you should have someone look up the expression "pearls before swine" for you.

A Thursday Lunch, no one in the place, Gumbo only on weekends, no bread for Poboys, no Links. Catfish is awesome, small amount of food but low price. Charged for a refill of Lemonade.

I'm very sorry this place has the worst BBQ Ribs in the universe,3 Ribs that was tough and lots of fat meat and no taste at all. Potatoes salad was nasty and lacked flavor. Beans with rice taste awful as well. My brother brought 2 BBQ Ribs dinner to give me a day off for cooking and I must say I was disappointed and we both dumped the dinners in trash after attempting to eat the BBQ and tasting the sides!!! I do not recommend the place .

Excellent food and service. Had the shrimp and collard greens, friend had catfish and red beans and rice. All seasoned and cooked perfectly, New Orleans style.Gumbo only on weekends so will be back for that. Definately recommend this place!

I love the idea of a small mom and pop spot. Working in the community, my co workers and I love trying new spots. In comes J Looneys. Looking at the pictures got me very excited, and the prices being so reasonable how could we turn it down. So it is a small mom and pop spot so the combination of phone orders and Yelp order got the staff of two very confused. So that's on us. We had 7 people other separately. Now the food. I got the fried catfish with a side of fries and collard greens ($14). I think it was roughly $15.40 total with tax. I would say the meal was tasty but kind of basic. Nothing spectacular but it was only $14 so it was a large meal for a great price. Just the confusion lead the group with very little time to eat and some orders were incorrect. With that said. I'm not sure if this was the best example of soul food and am not sure if I would try it again. But it's worth a shot.
