Marlena, always excellent fare with unique executions. Staff is attentive and pace was excellent. Our server was fantastic
Some very inventive dishes. the baby yams dish was exceptional. Enjoyed the pizza and meatballs. Wine pour was a little small, but the different wines offered was very good. Biggest problem was the parking. Very little available on the street.
Everything about this place is amazing. We ordered a pizza, pasta, cauliflower and meatballs and shared them between the 4 of us and we were very satisfied.
As always the service was fantastic and the food fresh and full of flavor! I have not had anything other than a fantastic dining experience every time I visit. My go to place when dining out!
The food was outstanding. We especially loved the turbot with artichokes, the chicory salad and the grilled cauliflower with a slight bit of breading and some nice spices. The pizzas were excellent. The atmosphere was super pleasant and our server was attentive. All five of us said we'd go back.
The service and food both were excellent. Just a note about the restaurant. The entire seating area is exposed to the elements. So bring a cover up if you're dining at night. Though almost all of the restaurant is covered by a roof. So during the winter months and specifically the rainy days, even with Marlena supplying heat from space heaters, it can be cold. We dined while it rained hard outside and received a few drops on our table from the slightly leakey roof. Though it was not even enough to disrupt our meal. Cannot say enough great things about the food here. They have a stellar chef and every dish my wife and I had was just to die for. We started with the grilled Octopus, with the Chicories and Fig salad. Both just delicious. Our entrees were the Lobster Ravioli and 14 oz Ribeye Steak with a side of Fingerling Potatoes. Again, the taste was just heavenly. The most delicious, different and surprising dish of the evening was our dessert. The burnt, Basque Cheesecake. It was just a plate of creamy, salty and slightly crunchy crust goodness. They are very proud of their food. So expect a dinner for two, with cocktails and wine to run just under $300. Please don't let the cost dissuade you. Experience this gem of Long Beach. You won't be sorry you made the choice.
If you have not been to Marlena that you really are doing yourself a disservice this place is fantastic all the way around we have come in numerous times and have had various weight staff see us greet us serve us and every single one of them is amazing. They're kind they're personable. They're funny And they know the menu very well. Go to Marlena. Enjoy yourself for a nice date night. You will not regret it.
We've been to Marlena several times and brought friends to show off the place. It did not disappoint. We shared plates all night - bianco bread, tomato & burrata salad, roasted yam small plate, lobster ravioli, adobe chicken, blue oyster mushroom pizza. Every single thing was exceptional - perfect portion size and over-the-top flavors. Our server Grace, who has been there since opening day, delivered fantastic service which matched our vibe. This is a neighborhood gem you shouldn't miss!
Excellent food and service. Can't wait to come back. Our pizza and pasta were better than the food we had in Rome
Food was good quality. It was overpriced and very small quantity. I will not go here again.

I really enjoyed this meal! Charming atmosphere and delicious fresh pasta and pizza! If I lived in Long Beach this would be a go-to for me.

Many staff milling around doing nothing. CS is horrible: took a long time to get water and place order, server checked how everything was but turned away before we even said everything was okay. This makes sense because there is a 22% service fee on the bill (they get paid regardless). Some food items were good however the side of fingerling potatoes that should have accompanied pricey beef weren’t seasoned. Oxtail pasta was bland (not sure if they charged for chili flakes or not). There was too much dressing on the Cesar salad. The cauliflower had nice flavor but is dry and needs to be accompanied by a dip or sauce (they charged $2 for a small ramekin of dip). Cocktails ordered without alcohol are still $17. Our booth overlooked an unsightly parking lot/back side of an apartment complex. We thought we’d try a local dining treat/support a local business but next time we’ll definitely be driving to 71 Above in LA for a delightful culinary experience, beautiful atmosphere and excellent service instead for the same price. We gladly tip them because they deserve it!

I’ve been coming here for special occasions and date nights for a few years and it’s an amazing place! I usually make a reservation but when I haven’t the wait wasn’t too long. I always get the Spanish Octopus, the agnolotti (which changes with the season, the sweet corn is my favorite), the halibut, and the pork chop (which is also changes throughout the year). I had the duck here which was also amazing. I also highly recommend the burnt basque cheese cake for dessert. I really like how their menu will change throughout the year too so there’s always something new to try each time I come here.

By far the best chocolate croissant I had since I came back from France two years ago. The quality of the ingredient and the freshness (the pastry chef makes everything in the morning) made it exceptional. Coffee was perfect, as well as the atmosphere and service. I cannot wait to come here for dinner night.
