Amazing company with the freshest uni! Customer service is top quality if there are any issues with your order. Thank you Ryan!! Appreciate the chat & learning more about the industry.

I've ordered from them in the past and I still currently order from them. The quality is always great and the value is there especially when you can get your hands on the premium box (and you need the larger amount). Even if you can't, the smaller quantities are still a few dollars cheaper than most of the other vendors in the city. There's even a frozen option at a discount if you are going to be cooking or processing the uni and it's still pretty solid for the price.Be aware that if you order for pick-up, you need to follow their time guidelines and they are only open weekdays and close at noon so plan accordingly. Stock is not always available so you'll have to check their website and/or their Instagram. If you can put up with all of that you'll be rewarded with an exceptional, premium product for a relatively good price.

The world’s top Santa Barbara Uni producer. They supply the best restaurants in the US and Japan, so you already know what you’re getting. The saltwater Uni boxes are beyond incredible, they also sell pasta kits and A5 Wagyu which are 10/10. Can’t recommend enough.

It was a good source for uni. Unfortunately service had gone down. I called to place my order for the holidays and was told that they updated in system and that I needed to order online. They can't even guarantee the product availability. I told them that I've ordered for many many years. But they didn't care. I'm going to have to look elsewhere this year and in the future.

This was my first time buying uni from Maruhide and definitely not the last. The uni was the firmest and sweetest and most succulent pieces of uni I have ever had in my life. There was no saltiness, just sweet sweet uni! Tricia was great to deal with while arranging this order and picking it up locally. She even bagged it in a cooler and provided ice (at least I think that was Tricia)! I will definitely be back to get more! Recommend them for anyone that likes uni! You will not be disappointed!

I love getting fresh Uni here when it's available. Can't tell you how stoked I was when I found out how close it is to my home. Can't wait to go back and pick through some fresh live Uni

As we are two uni lovers, a pickup at the factory has become our first stop in LA. The staff was so kind that they waited for us till slightly outside the normal pickup range (we were stuck in the traffic), even when we only come for a small tray. The uni itself is the freshest I’ve had! The taste is pleasant and sweet - we finished all in 2 minutes in front of the Iowa without any condiment.

I've ordered from Maruhide before, the second time I ordered from them I realized how bad their customer service really was. Maruhide uses Fedex for shipping and they don't understand how Fedex works. My order was suppose to be delivered overnight, however, due to the snow in Seattle, Fedex did not make the package available for delivery or pickup one week later. It just sat in the shipping station (Even UPS delivered!). I requested for pickup on Wednesday and I was suppose to have received the request within 24 hours to pick up on Thursday but that was ignored. New Years Day came on Friday and Fedex is off work so the package sat over the weekend. By Monday Fedex made the package available and I went to the station to pick it up. The ice packed with the package had melted, and I don't know for how long. Given that it is seafood, I cannot take the chance to consume it. I've requested a refund from Maruhide and they said they will not be making any refund and asked me to file a claim as a recipient and then let them know that I've filed a claim so that they can file a claim as a shipper. I called Fedex regarding the status of my claim. Fedex closed my claim within a day because Fedex reviewed this case and said the claim had to be filed by the shipper. Essentially Maruhide asked me to go through the inconvenience to do something that was deemed useless. I have to wait for their claim to resolve before Maruhide will refund me in this case. God knows how long that will take. And if the claim somehow was denied, I will not be getting my refund back. On top of that, Maruhide insisted that I was at fault for not picking up the package on time. I was charged $42 for shipping and Maruhide used Fedex and refuse to be responsible for a late delivery. I've requested them to provide the claim number so I can track the status of that claim and they do not respond. This is one of the worst customer service I have experienced. I will order sea urchins in the future elsewhere.

Helllllo, uni! I ordered a bunch of goodies from Maruhide Marine Products with much skepticism as the destination will be Honolulu. I had a vision of FedEx tossing the box around in their warehouse and the uni overheating in the FedEx delivery truck. I couldn't be more wrong as this was clearly not their first rodeo. The products came perfectly intact, it was superbly packed with preciseness in a Styrofoam box. The cold pack was wrapped to prevent sweat/water spots on uni shutou and sea urchin soy sauce outer packaging. My first taste of their super-premium uni in a metal tray blew me out of the water. The uni isn't tiny like Japan's uni, the flavor was of the highest quality and fresh with a tiny hint of saltwater. Delicious! We will purchase uni from Maruhide Marine Products again. Arigato gozaimasu, Kawamura-san!

Uni here super fresh! They only carry Santa Barbara uni, but oh is it fresh and juicy. You place a reservation request online; if they have it in stock they will then email back a confirmation and you arrange a pick up time. I personally received a response within a few hours. I ordered their five pocket tray uni, and oh my these were some of the biggest, juiciest uni I've ever had. Also grabbed a jar of their famous uni shutou since I was already there; haven't cracked that open yet but am quite excited to try soon. They also package every order nicely in a zippered insulated bag and ice pack. They do ship, but as I live 20 minutes away I just dropped by. Only open M-F and not all day so plan accordingly.

Uni is one of my favorite foods and it's becoming harder and harder to find good uni. Even some sushi restaurants seem to serving some sub-par stuff lately (ahem, Sushi Tsujita on Sawtelle). Anywhooooo, I drove 45 minutes (one way) for this place but it was totally with it and I will be making regular visits. The uni in the metal tin was sweet and creamy. The uni in the salt water package wasn't bad either but I would definitely use that for pasta or "al bap" (a korean fish roe rice dish) because it was def more briny. P.s. I like briny uni. Ordering is a breeze. I placed an order for pick up on a Wednesday. Tricia at Maruhide replied to me on Thursday morning. By Friday morning, I was walking to my car with some lovely uni packed inside of an awesome insulated bag that said "LA uni lover" on the outside. If you do decide to pick up in person, you enter thru the door marked "office" and the pick up window was between 9 am-3 pm (at least on the Friday that I went). Thank you Maruhide!! I miss your restaurant but I'm so glad you sell your beautiful uni to the general public.
