It was good place.Nice foodGood staffsGood price!Food pics with menu will be better. If there is menu outside of restaurant will be nice, then people can have a look ?
good food. Service was a little spotty but they were super nice. would go again.
Good sushi for this area, lots of special and classic rolls. Also hot dinner entrees and drinks. Light atmosphere with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. For not being very upscale, it's more expensive than some
The place was not very busy for Sunday lunch, but we decided to give it a try since our regular place was not open until evening. Food was a little pricier than we usually pay but was okay & tasty. Rolls could have been bigger (more slices) and rolled tighter as they fell apart when picked up. I wish the server had more experience and interacted with us more. The issue that I have with the restaurant is the tipping scale at the bottom of the check that tips on top of the taxable total. I find this ridiculous and what exasperates me even more is the NORMAL tipping table is 15% 18% 20% BUT on their table NOT only was it off the taxable total but the scale was 18% 20% 22% .....that is ridiculous (22%) especially with being in a city that charges 10.25% tax so that would mean the server would on a 20% tip (according to Otosan's scale) really be getting 30.25% tip. Thanks but NO THANKS!If I am going to pay that much it is going to go to EXPERIENCED staff. DONT lie about the scale. Tell the truth on the sale: 28.25%, 30.25% & 32.25%
The $48 sushi sampler is really good quality and delicious. Would definitely recommend! Dave was my server and was super friendly and helpful with the menu and recommendations for other cool spots to hit in the LBC.
I’ve been coming here for a little bit now maybe 4 times total the last year or so. I went there with my family on Good Friday after a long week and arrived at 8p-8:05p only to be told sorry we are closed it’s our last table when the restaurant closes at 8:30pm?? Restaurant closes at 8:30 not 8p why turn people away on a Friday?? Seems ridiculous for a sushi restaurant that never has a wait or look to be that busy at all to turn away a family of 4. I’ve spent probably $250 every time I’ve gone.I hope whoever owns the place actually thinks about staying open a reasonable time for dinner on a Friday and not close bc staff want to leave RIGHT at 8:30. Give me a break sheesssh
While at 2nd & PCH we got hungry and decided to try out Otosan. From the outside looking in the restaurant looked well decorated and I assumed would be top notch because of its location in a beautiful new shopping center.I enjoyed the albacore sashimi which was the first item brought out. The second and third items were problematic. The king salmon sashimi tasted a bit old and slimy . . . which was worrisome. The roll which contained blue crab meat has pieces of the shell in almost every bite, which definitely detracted from being able to enjoy the food. Before we left I used the restroom, which obviously hadn’t been cleaned in several days. It was disgusting and caused me to look at the kitchen closely upon exiting the restroom. I could see that the kitchen floors were also filthy and obviously hadn’t been cleaned in days. Raw seafood and an unclean kitchen is an absolutely terrible combination.I’m not going to return to this restaurant as I don’t feel safe eating the food.
Admittedly, we didn't eat here -- rather me and my heavily pregnant wife came in asking to use their restroom. They declined. I believe exceptions should be made in certain circumstances.
Great Service and very fresh Sushi! The Tuna Tower is the best!
It’s our new local favorite. Great outdoor heated patio.
Restaurantji Recommends
I've dined here a several times and each time the service is friendly, albeit a bit slow. It's never been especially busy, but the food is tasty and well prepared. My only complaint is on the lettuce wraps, where the leaves are chopped too small to actually use to wrap the contents, and some of the veggies seem haphazardly thrown in for filler.
Try their blue crab roll. Excellent. Also, a perfect place to go for a quick roll??
Great sushi and amazing service! Loved the crispy rice sushi
I highly recommend not wasting your money here. Extremely over priced and very low quality and slow/ low grade service. I am plant based and can’t speak to the quality of the fish on the menu but I ordered a few vegan items for myself (1 person) and it cost me around $40. I ordered an iced matcha drink and it was so horrible I could only have a couple sips. They put way too much matcha powder so it was super bitter and unpleasant (and I love matcha) and was clumpy at the bottom so I had to mix it in and it was supposed to have a simple syrup but there was no sweetness. I ordered edamame as an appetizer and it came out once I was almost done with the rest of my food and it was so extremely over cooked, mushy, dry, and unenjoyable. I ordered 2 cucumber rolls and 1 veggie roll and they were so tiny and overpriced. I could get much better versions of those rolls at so many other places for around $1-$2 a roll. I asked the server if the soy sauce was gluten free and she said she wasn’t sure and would find out but she never got back to me. The table next to me was also having issues waiting on an order of soup and never came out after waiting so long so they left. This place was not worth it at all. Sorry guys, just a few pointers that you need to improve on.
Great place. We ate in the patio area. The food and service was great
