Just visited for the 1st time, seen the items they had posted on the window, it looked so good I decided to try it out and man I dont regret it. I ordered a bowl with spicy chicken and kimchi and man that dish was so good better then I had in mind that I am forsure going to come back. Just got to find parking tbh because its next to the court house but the food is delicious

Soulicious in downtown Long Beach was a really pleasant surprise. I ordered the Korean bulgogi beef bowl with brown rice and a side of kimchi, and with tip it came out to about $18.50. Honestly well worth it.

One thing I really appreciated was that the bulgogi was made to order. After placing my order, I could actually see the kitchen pull the meat from the refrigerator and cook it fresh on the grill specifically for my bowl. It definitely was not pre cooked or sitting under a heat lamp, which made a huge difference in quality and taste.

The bulgogi itself was packed with flavor, exactly how it should be. The meat was tender, juicy, and seriously addictive. I honestly could have eaten three or four bowls without thinking twice.

The kimchi was also really good, crunchy and flavorful. If I am being picky, I would have loved a little more spice, but I get that they are probably balancing for a broader American palate. Still very solid and enjoyable.

Overall, 5 out of 5 stars. Really good food, fresh preparation, and I would absolutely come back again.

I had meat jun with kimchi and “spicy” cucumber. The cucumber was coated in something red, but was not the least bit spicy. Overall the food was fine, but overpriced for what it is. The dining room feels like a cafeteria, clean and functional but no ambiance, decorations or music. Food is served in plastic takeout containers even if you’re dining in.

Genuinely, this was the worst food I’ve ever had in my life. And I’m Korean, so I know how Korean food is supposed to taste.

I ordered the short ribs and pork bulgogi, and when I say they were unbearably salty and overly seasoned, I’m not exaggerating. It honestly felt like they were deliberately trying to give customers heart disease because there’s no reason food should be this salty. On my drive home, I actually developed a headache from the amount of sodium, and I’m now in bed typing this because my head still hurts.

The banchan were just as bad. The cucumber side dish was completely wrong. I took one bite and immediately spat it out. Proper cucumber salad needs to be salted and left to sit so it lightly pickles, but it’s clear they didn’t do that at all. On the other hand, the spinach was completely unseasoned. Somehow everything here is either massively over-seasoned or totally bland. There’s no in between. The only acceptable items were the rice and kimchi.

Service was also terrible. The guy at the front acted like he didn’t want to be there. When I asked for spoons, he responded with “spoons???” as if it was a ridiculous request. I need a spoon to eat rice. That shouldn’t be confusing.

I would’ve asked for my money back if I hadn’t been with a friend.

Save your money and don’t come here. I’m Korean. I know what I’m talking about, and this is easily the worst Korean food I’ve ever had, and I’m not saying that lightly.

A small Korean restaurant offering reasonably priced protein bowls (rice, grilled meat, and a veggie side). Casual. Protein cooked to order. Ample seating. Lots of orders to go. Can get busy at lunch.

Good food at reasonable prices for an “on the go” concept. The customer service is always excellent and the place can get crowded during lunch hours (weed days). The cook the meat to order so it may take a while. It’s definitely a good place to eat at but be mindful of your time limits if you are going during your lunch break.
