Kid-friendliness: Staff was more than happy to cut up some fruit for my 1 yr old
So tasty! Highly recommend. I had the hot hen sandwich which was perfectly fried and came with crispy seasoned potatoes. The brown lager beer accompanied the meal well. The back patio had heaters, market lights and a charming ambiance that was unexpected from just walking by the storefront many times. Our server was very friendly, and we had an overall great experience. We'll be back.

First time here - can't wait to go back. I just had a small bowl of black eyed peas, greens and pork that one should traditionally eat for good luck in the upcoming year. The thing I would like to point out is the warm welcome we received when we arrived. This is a small family owned business that is a must try. Although I just had a small serving of food, a local started talking to us and raved about the bbq... we will most definitely go back!
PS - The local recommended the bacon!

It is rare to find such kindness and authenticity but, he and his family made us feel so welcome.Shady Grove will be our go to spot when you need comfort food and you’re welcomed. You have to go try this bbq at Shady Grove.The bacon is out of this world, the pulled pork is better than in Texas, the local beer selection is great, and the patio outside is really nice.But Shady Grove is more than a bbq spot, people are also very kind and genuine. It's a real local restaurant where you eat great food and above all connect with other friends and neighbors.
This was my first time. Service is pleasant and efficient. The food is UNREAL. Definitely coming back to try something else.

Honestly, the bacon is what's gonna sell you on this place, also the home made lemonade. I ordered the Gumbo Yaya and I sopped the juice with my bread slices. Jolee took care of us and attended to our needs, we were a party of 8. Definitely come by and ask for Jolee and some bacon and a nice glass of lemonade. Also we came for the loaded potatoes only served on Thursdays, they were to die for!

Had brunch today and why the hell am I just now learning about this place?!The food was amazing! I also met the owner who reminded me of Santa and had kind eyes and he gave me a nice hand shake. Took the time to thank me for coming! Best food in Long Beach!Thanks you sir!
