Been coming here for years. First time we are puzzled by the size of the sushi roll. Spider roll that I alway have was paper thin and hardly had any fried crab. Truly surprised of the difference in the size of the serving! Guess Won’t be ordering it any more.

Best sushi on second street. The redheaded waitress was so awesome. She is literally the nicest. Always has a smile on her face and great recommendations for sushi. Highly recommend this place. Great service overall!

Food was great! Chris our chef is a professional! The service was HORRIBLE, our waitress, (red hair, in her mid-late 30’s) was incredibly rude, blatantly fake, ill-mannered and impolite… will not be returning ?

Fresh sushi rolls. Definitely live the vegetable tempura. My kids said the sashimi was pretty fresh.

Revising my review for this place. This place is in tight competition right now with Sushi On Fire along 2nd street, but this is still my preferred high-quality sushi spot. This place really outdoes itself with the quality and uniqueness of its rolls. A lot of my love comes down to the umami they pack into their special dressings they pair with the sushi. The Scottish salmon, the fried arugula, the stinky roll with the mix of fried garlic and onion. And the price comparatively to others here is great if not excellent. Even their Uni is solid (the best I've had is from a place that kept them live in Santa Barbara, a high bar to compare to). Even if the service is slow or inaccurate as of the past couple times, I'm willing to wait. This place deserves a shot, dare to compare what they've got to others.

This place is the bomb, the Hawaiian garlic roll is one of my fave dishes. You have to try it. Their spicy garlic edamame is also great tasting

Wow, what a gem! Don't be fooled if it's not very busy. Ambience is an old school sushi bar vibe and I highly recommend sitting at the bar so you can chat with the chefs and maybe if it's slow you'll get a couple of on the house tasters like we did. The fish is such high quality and a good value! I never leave reviews but this place was worth it! Friendly service too.

If you love garlic, get the spicy tuna tempura ….. it’s amazing ! Lobster lover ? Get the chubby lobster , it’s also amazing … love salmon ? Get the baked salmon roll ? . The quality here is very very consistent, one of my favorites

7/22/23 Finally stopped in to try Sushi Ai We've passed by this sushi joint about a few dozen times, so hubby was feeling like having sushi today-Why not give it a Go? We rolled in, no wait at 10 pm on a Saturday night. Initially, our server was Maria, then Angie stepping in. Hubby ordered salmon roll, Scottish pepper salmon with garlic ponzu & Fire-i guess he was really famished. I opted to get the Sushi & sashimi dinner--this was highly satisfying. The fish was sliced THICK, the sushi chef didn't skimp at all. It tasted fresh, great mouthfeel. It was silky smooth. Presentation looked a bit sloppy but the food tasted great. Hubby gave his rolls the two thumbs up! Service by Angle was fairly prompt but not as attentive as we'd like. We sat outside by the sidewalk & people watched as we dined. For the price we paid, I expected better/attentive service. Highly satisfied with our meal.

This is my go-to sushi place on 2nd. Our server today was so sweet. I've always had good service here and the sushi is delish. I would highly recommend coming for happy hour. Between a group of 4, we ordered a pitcher of beer, a bottle of sake, spicy edamame, and 6 rolls all to share, and we each paid only $34 after splitting the check. These are the rolls we got:Dragon roll Spicy shrimp crunch Spicy tuna with garlic ponzu Hawaiian rollBaked jumbo scallop roll (not pictured)Without happy hour, the prices have increased over the years (as all places have). But still one of the more affordable restaurants on 2nd street! Great for a casual lunch or dinner. I love sitting outdoors on a nice day. Indoors is nice too with the decorations. There's street and meter parking all around 2nd street.

Oooof sushi ai is so underrated & was honestly so surprised there wasn't as much people. But hey, I guess I can't complain about a line. Very good sushi for a decent cost. I live in the Bay Area though im desensitized to the cost of dining out LULZ. But anyway, I got a salad, 2-piece toro and 3 additional rolls for ONLY $89. Like what an absolute steal! The service was quick and staff was so friendly. Ambiance is pretty casual which is nice if you want good sushi and a chill date night. I'm definitely coming back! Toro = MELT in your mouth delicious. If I could just eat toro and not break my account I would. Hawaiian Garlic Roll = OMFG. The holy grail. The butter flavor in this roll adds next level. Jumbo scallop roll = delicious flavor but felt unsure about how overcooked the scallops were on top. Crispy onion roll: delicious but not my favorite. Between the fish, flavor and crispy salad and onion on top it felt too acidic.

Sushi AI or as my wife always calls it Sushi Saurus. Sushi was good and they have a great selection of different rolls to choose from. It was a beautiful day so we sat on the patio but the smokers and homeless were constantly passing by fortunately our very handsome waiter was kind enough to shush them away.
