Kitchen normally closes at 7:30, and we got there at 6:30. Even though, there was an empty (and clean) table—not to mention the half-dozen empty bar stools at the sushi counter—they told us that we needed to wait for half an hour if we wanted to stay; which we did. After waiting at the door for a while, the owner said something to her waitress, and she came and asked us to leave. It didn’t matter to them a bit that they had said we could wait, or the fact that we have been going there for years.Imagine if you go into a bank and stand in line, and then they come to you after a while and tell you that they can’t help you because they want to go home. They may know how to prepare food, but they’re really bad at running a business!Good luck if you decide to take a chance there.

Today I went to sushi Kinoya because of a recommendation from my math teacher.I tried the Baked Eel Roll, and everything was very fresh, and they put a very good amount of Eel. I give it a 9/10 excellent. The atmosphere was very nice and relaxed, and the servers were very good. I will be taking friends here and I recommend coming and trying this joint out.

Our old sushi places closed down . Found this place by accident and it’s a gem. Sushi was delicious and the service is very welcoming.

Unfortunately our last favorite sushi place closed down. We tried several places and by accident we found this hidden gem. The sushi is delicious and the customer service is great .

This place is seriously price gouging. I am unsure how they've received such high reviews unless perhaps things have changed recently because of inflation? For a $10.50 cut roll of soft shell crab, we literally got maybe at best 50% portion of any other sushi restaurant. Yes at another restaurant the price of the roll would be slightly more but for 20-30% less price we are getting 50% less food. Our $25.50 chirashi was similarly small and didn't have premium cuts to support the price (no scallop, no amebi, no ikura, non house made tamago, etc). Our friend got hot food (udon) and also felt similarly disappointed with portion size. My husband and I ordered a salmon roll, a soft shell crab cut roll, a chirashi bowl, and a tempura dinner and we were still hungry and had to go elsewhere after. The service seemed short staffed. Our server at one point just asked us to write down our order on a piece of paper and hand it to her. We never got a water refill or tea refill despite having empty cups.

Ok, first things first! One of my favorite things to do when I visit a new place is find unexpectedly fantastic Sushi in what may be very modest dogs (yes, capital 'S' outta respect for the artistry and SHOUT OUT TO CRAZY JOE'S SUSHI IN PALM SPRINGS FOR SETTING THE BAR SO HIGH)! Sushi Kinoya was great! Great food and great price...most reasonable I've had all day! I had one of the lunch specials Red Snapper Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll + miso soup. The miso was fine. But, the Sushi was awesome! I had enough to feel completely satisfied ... not just the proportions though great but the flavors, too ... chef's kiss! And, my favorite thing of all...they didn't skimp on the ginger! I even had some left over! Would definitely come again on my next trip! Viva the strip mall sushi!!! The vibe is friendly and warm. If you're trying to impress her or him with the decor...not the place. BUT, if you want good food and money left over to make a great day of it, run don't walk to Sushi Kinoya! Sorry no pics... food too good and I was way to hungry, ?

Mellow local sushi with better fish. Their willingness to use fatter cuts of salmon is really all I need to trust. The fatter side of me would hope for more pieces per cut sushi order, but great taste and friendly service more than make up for it!

Very friendly server. I ordered a Chirashi bowl; my total was ~$30. The fish was fresh, but the quality of rice was very little. I was satisfied but I wasn't super full. Don't know if I feel like that purchase was super worth it.

Los Altos hand roll. This is all.The best sushi in Long Beach love them and they pretty much know me when I call so I appreciate it.

It's been almost ten years since my last review, and it deserves an update.First and foremost, the sushi is as good as ever. My son even ranked it higher than our other favorite sushi restaurant in Long Beach, and that's high praise. My tempura bento box was simple yet satisfying. All the items were lovingly prepared, and the tempura was fried to a crispy perfection (without being too greasy).Service was even better than I remembered, and it really feels like a mom and pop operation. The interior seats less than twenty customers, and I think the table arrangement was still stuck in pandemic, social-distancing era, further restricting the dining space. It doesn't take away any of the charm and dining experience though. The price was also outstanding. It's rare to find a sushi joint that costs less than $20 per person.Parking can be a competitive sport in this crowded shopping center, but you can perceive it as pre-meal entertainment.

I am so happy I found this spot! It's really good sushi. Service is exceptional! If you haven't given them a try you must! I promise it will be delicious. I'm not a fan of salmon but theirs is fresh!
