Passed by Los Alamitos, and saw this korean resto.
We ordered jap chae and curry pork katsu.
Here's the deal, if you're hungry and want a Humongous serving, eat here.
Their serving is so huge that it can feed 2 people.
Taste-wise is delicious especially the jap chae, you can ask for refill of their sides.
Will definitely come back with friends and family.

Visited the second branch of Dawa in Los Alamitos and loved it! The tteokbokki was just as good as any specialty spot—perfectly chewy rice cakes and fish cakes soaked in flavorful sauce.
This is exactly what the other rviews say - a hidden gem! Ee usually explore Belmont Shores, Seal Beach and Sunset beach. Today we opted for Los Alamitos. We came here midday on Jan 1st, and they served us quickly. The food was delicious, and tender! We ordered the chicken katsu and Beef Bulgogi - both were excellent! I can see this as one of many visits to come!

It's true they have the giant katsu here and it's as good as it looks. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Clean space and feels welcoming for first time visiting. Definitely coming back for more and don't sleep on the army ramen, very yummy.
You food was amazing! Ryan, the owner stopped by table and explained the dishes to us. I'm Korean and I'm snooty about my Korean cuisine, and I was very impressed with the Korean fusion style. Better than BCD. You got to try it!

Nice little Korean spot in Los Al. These are what I tried so far. Katsu is huge! Beef soup and soft tofu stew is very good. Tteokbokki is ok, I've had better at Korean markets. Never had real good tteokbokki at restaurants. Bulgogi was a small portion but delicious. So far so good, will be going back!

Massive chicken katsu curry served in a hot stone pot. Most people can’t finish what they ordered. Side dishes armed good but my katsu was very thin and was a little dry.

Great addition to the Los Al area!
Huge katsu (kids like the curry on the side) and delicious galbi jjim (braised beef). More than enough for 2 adults and 2 kids + leftovers for the next day.

Dawa is definitely a hidden gem! First off- the portions are INSANE! One order of pretty much anything can feed at LEAST two people. And even though the portions are huge, the quality is still so so good! We loved the giant katsu (that was bigger than our heads), garlic su yuk, and the bibim noodles! We’ve never seen bibim noodles before so that was a fun twist. The staff is so friendly and it’s just overall the perfect comfort food spot!

Visited the second branch of Dawa in Los Alamitos and loved it! The tteokbokki was just as good as any specialty spot—perfectly chewy rice cakes and fish cakes soaked in flavorful sauce. The spicy pork was outstanding with a great marinade and balance of flavors. Delicious side dishes and excellent service made the experience even better. Definitely recommend!

Our family (2 adults, 2 kids) just at dinner and it was great!! We got the pork katsu with curry (on the side), bulgogi beef, bibimbap, and mandu. We had barely any leftovers because everybody loved it! It was hot, fresh, and so flavorful.
What a find! We're not familiar the Los Al area, so we were so stoked to find Dawa Kitchen while searching for a dinner spot. It was a bonus to hear from friends that this restaurant is a popular choice among locals. If you've never been, Dawa is described as a cozy, casual Korean restaurant serving small plates and comfort food.
My wife and daughter split the Bulgogi. I saw online photos and videos of their katsu curry so I of course had to try it. Customers can choose between pork or chicken and curry or without. My Curry Pork Katsu arrived piping hot served with rice on a sizzling hot stone skillet. The portion size of the katsu was beyond generous! If you don't believe me, check out for yourself the big mamma jamma in my video. The skillet really helps the entree retain its heat, so I recommend eating slowly and cautiously or risk burning the inside of your mouth. All food orders are accompanied with standard banchan - we had three side dishes including kimchi and spicy cucumbers. Overall we had a great experience at Dawa Kitchen and look forward to our leftovers when next we eat!

Really impressed with this place! The food was flavorful and well-prepared, with a nice balance of textures and seasoning. The side dishes were fresh, and the staff was really friendly. Great portions, cozy atmosphere, and overall a solid spot for Korean food. I’ll definitely be back!
